peoples experiences coming of lithium

been on lithium for nearly 15 years took 1200mg for a long time decided to come of it without  telling my old doc i see a new doc on wednesday now down to 600mg and i am still depressed but no worser just wondering about  other peoples experiences of coming of it from what ive read ot sounds as if it can be hell,is that right.

You're hanging in there I see.  I am glad that you are doing well.

Unlike you, when I came off lithium, I did it cold turkey (this was all my doing, my pdoc had nothing to do with it).  I don't recommend that to anyone.  I was sick for about a week or maybe a little more.  I had the shakes, I was anxious/restless, irregular heartbeat, could barely sleep, abdominal cramps and other gastrointentinal issues, pounding headache/tunnel vision, etc.

You probably don't have the major symptoms that I had because you are weaning yourself off slowly, which is how it is recommended.

Sorry if I scared you there.  But at the time I was also taking other meds, and that probably made it worse.
