My husband and I discussed it last night. He wants custody of the kids, with no help from me. All he wants is for me to come visit when I can and stay in our children's lives. He can't handle me and I really don't blame him. Im sad and this is hard for me :(

Dianosed Bipolar I: On abilify, prozac & trazodone. Mom to 3 little ones. Wife to a great husband.

I'm so sorry. Do you want him to take custody of the kids? I understand if you do, but if you don't, then don't let him use your BP1 dx against you. When I divorced my first husband, he insisted I was unstable and that he could use it against me in court. My lawyers fiance just happened to be Bipolar. Her ex-husband had tried the same thing. She was stable on meds, and it didn't hold up in court. The judge still gave her the kids. My lawyer told me that if I wanted custody to fight, that I would most likely win. In the end once I refused to cave he backed off.
Hang in there Elicia, maybe he's just feeling overwhelmed. He may feel differently soon.
