Hi, this is my first post here.  Am writing re my 15 year old daughter who has been treated for bp NOS since age 6.  She is taking a number of meds.
We had a terrible problem with her being seriously addicted to video games.  She used to play for hours a day--now all computers, cell phones, etc. are kept locked away, password protected, etc.  I believe she was experiencing partial seizures from video games--sometimes she was in an almost catatonic state after playing for a while.  These can be very tough to pick up on an EEG, so it took 5 neurologists till someone agreed to try her on Lamictal.  That was 5 weeks ago, and she's going through some agitation now at 100 mg.
Does anyone else have suspicions about weird neurological activity occurring during video games?  I think neurocircuitry in ADHD and mood disorders makes people more vulnerable.

First, I would like to welcome you to the HW family and the Bipolar Forum. I'm glad that you found us.

I am sorry you are going through a rough time with your daughter. I wish I can offer some help on the Lamictal, but I can't. I was on it in the past for about 2 years and never really had any side effects. There was someone on this board recently complaining about the "agitation" issue with Lamictal. But this member was on 300mg then went down to 100mg when they started experiencing the agitation. I am not sure why people experience this side effect with the med.

I would definetly contact the doc she is seeing and see what can be done. I have read somewhere that sometimes they prescribe beta-blockers that takes the med symptoms away. Best wishes, and please keep us updated.
