I am not sure if I am posting this on the right MB here at HW---but, thought since I have at least four of these things in my rt. breast---I'd come to this MB! :-)
Anway---I was confirmed as having 4 (although it feels like tons)--fibroid cysts in my right breast back in June----Oh my GEEZ--they are painful!  I had a specialist tell me there's not much to do but maybe take ibuprofen--and they will go away after I go through menopause (I am 39---my mom went into menopause at 42---a girl can hope)!
Anway---my questions are:
* can you get fibroids anywhere around the tissue of your breast?  I am asking b/c I have been having a lot of undiagnosed PAIN in my right upper quadrant---ribs, under my arm, rt. arm, mid back, shoulder etc....  Can fibroid cysts be there also?
For months---I have had tests done on various back/gall bladder/ type pain--all coming up empty---had B12 test done b/c my right arm goes numb (negative test), Over the past 8 months--the pain varies in intensity--but, it is always so painful in my right breast---and under that arm, rib, etc......
My midwife told me to take evening primrose (1000 mg?)/day---SIGH!  Helped a little
Right now--I am having some horrible neck/shoulder pain and am taking prednisone (20 mg/3 at a time/for 5 days)----to try and help with the inflammation/pain--but, thought I would ask here anyway?  Anyone help?

Hi Laurel, welcome! My name is Laurel also, so I just had to reply...people here know me as Lori though.

Anyway...all of us are likely to tell you that the only way to be sure of a breast lump is to look at the cells. Take a good history and inventory of the lumps so you can monitor for changes. Seek a second opinion if you need to. Most likely your doc is right and that you can manage the fibrocystic issues with things like the primrose...but if you are in that much discomfort, insist on having the lump removed.

As for the multiple other symptoms you present, again, I'd suggest that you take good notes so that when you see a doc you can describe what you experience and when. Is it possible you have a connective tissue disorder, like fibromyalgia?

Anyway, don't settle till you get good answers... I don't know much about the questions you asked but perhaps others here will.

Hang in there and let us know what you find out.

Hi Laurel,  I was diagnosed with "Mastodynia" in December. Basically it is breast pain/tenderness that can worsen w/ hormones, fatty diet, stress, etc....the breast specialist I saw recommended primrose also, but I haven't tried it yet. I have a lot of breast tissue in my arm pits, so that is where I get a lot of discomfort. You can get pain in your ribcage and back from this also. My doc also recommended reducing dietary fat and limiting alcohol. Um, haven't tried those either!!!!!!!!! It is bothersome at times, but i have had this for so long I am used to it. It is possible you may have this as well.
Also, I would enourage you to get another opinion, preferably from a breast specialist. I think it would be beneficial to get another opinion on the cysts, and maybe he/she can shed some light on the pain. Hope this helped!!

The waiting is the hardest part!!!  Wouldn't it be nice to have a crystal ball???
But I do have a question for someone...
I have a lump as well...I did get the Dr. to do a biopsy on it and still waitin the results...But this is my question...
If they do the biopy and the lump moves and get's narrow is this normal...???...Does this happen when it's cancer...???...I'm still just looking for answers ...
Mine was HUGE above my right breast and hard as a rock...the tenderness went away and the lump as moved but I can still feel's more now above the nipple and not round you think when they punchered it it's leaving...???..Do you think I'm wishing for too much...???...Gosh like everyone else out there who has had troubles I'm just really scared ....
