It all began when I wrote that I was going to Cincinnati area to my grand daughter's high school graduation.  I asked if those who lived in the area wanted to get together for lunch.  It grew from there to a very special time in all our hearts and memories.  Some of you met my grand daughter at lunch the first day there.
Well, this May she is graduating from medical school.  Yes, Dr. Rebekah Stroup!!!!  Her residency will be in Chattanooga, TN.  She is specializing in breast surgery!!!!!  It will take another five to seven years for her to finish schooling completely, but she is dedicated and I'm sure she will be a good doctor!!
And Friday my son, her father, will turn 50!!! Good grief, I am getting old! LOL!  And, I finally found out the reason I was hospitalized in January.  Although the four days of IV antibiotics really did me some good, no one was sure what my problem was other than a vague infection, shadows in the CT scan----.  Well, my PC dr put it all together at my visit last week when I told her I still had the same pains and problems.  My colonoscopy had showed diverticula.  Evidently, an infection formed in there and and wa la Diverticulitis!!! The IVs knocked it down for awhile, but when the effect wore off it blew up again.  So now I am eating a smooth diet, taking oral antibiotics and hoping for healing.  Gees who said these were the Golden Years?

Wow MK, I am proud of your granddaughter and I don't evenknow her!! At doctor and a breast surgeon at that! That is wonderful!
I know what you mean about kids making you feel old. My son will be 39 and it does not seem possible when I am only 40, hehe! And my daughter is due to have my third grandson in June! Time sure flies!
I was not at that first meeting but I sure did love being at the ones in Texas, Vegas and Louieville! It was so good meeting my breast friends. Hopefully we will all meet again someday.
Love and Hugs, Gail

Dear MK...I hit the big 50 myself today. I told my grandbaby that finally, Dobbe is old, so now I don't have to worry about getting old anymore! I'm there, and it doesn't feel any different than yesterday did! She was quite tickled. She called me last night and said, "Dobbe, can we have a surprise party for your birthday?" I said, "Sure. When you get here, Dobbe will go out with the dogs, and you can all hide, and when I come back in, you can jump out and say, "Surprise!" So that is what we did. It was the best surprise party I have ever had.

I think Brianna's mom and your Rebekah graduated the same year. Brittany is finally getting her Bachelor's degree next month. She will be packing off to grad school in NC, and that is going to be really hard for ALL of us.

I think the golden years are always the ones behind us. I hope there are a lot more of them for us to look back on, don't you???

Love and hugs...

Awww What a sweet post, MK. You are certainly one proud grandma. What an inspiration you must be for your granddaughter. Nothing as nice as knowing that we have made an influence on succeeding generations. I missed that first gathering as we already had Memorial weekend plans. But, how fun was St. Louis, and San Antonio, and 2 trips to Myrtle Beach and Las Vegas before that spectacular weekend in Louisville. What good times we've had. Anytime you all want to come to Minnesota, just let me know. Hugs, Lauri (dxed 04/11/1996)
