I am a refugee from the IBS forum and feel a bit guilty at posting this question on a site where so many have really serious issues but...
I had an excisional breast biopsy nearly four weeks ago for a papilloma. The result was benign and this was a great relief. I have healed well over the incision but still have a small pink area right at the edge of it near the nipple and a fair amount of itching and burning sensations. Don't feel poorly and there is no redness or excessive warmth other than that which I presume is occasioned by healing. Also some weird shooting sensations. Can anyone assure me that these are normal after a procedure of this kind and how long they might be expected to persist?
Thanks so much.

We're always happy to hear about benign results! That is the kind of news we love to hear! I didn't have this problem with my breast, but from my reconstruction scar. It was a small spot in the incision that just didn't seem to heal the way the rest of the wound did. It was just a little red and angry-looking, and it was itchy. They told me that sometimes this happens with internal stitches. The doctor dug around on it, couldn't find anything, and it eventually did heal over, but it took awhile. I would definitely let the surgeon's office know what's going on, just to be on the safe side. And again, thanks for sharing some good news with us!
