Hi I am 25 yrs old. I know I have lumpy breast to begin with but I found a lump a few months back, (not your typical size and shape). The lump, I think is on the top (tail- closer to the middle of my chest) of my breast. It was about the width of my index finger, the length- tip of finger to second knuckle. When I saw my family Dr. she gave me the exam, but I think with my age she didnt really listen to me. I got an ultrasound done, but I had to show where it was, it didn't show up on the screen. I couldn't believe it cause it's freaking huge. When I look down at my breast I can see it sticking out. Once she felt where it was she was shocked too, but said it wasn't part of my breast tissue. I am pretty sure it's now the width of two fingers but kinda flat. I don't want to call the doctor again and sound foolish for wanting them to figure out what it is. Can lumps be as big and wide. It feels like its attached at the wall, it doesnt hurt, doesnt move, I see a big dimple when I raise my arm, but it's also hard to tell because I have two kids and my breast are full of stretch marks. I don't want to seem foolish calling the Dr. again if it is nothing.

I think you should have insisted on a better answer from the doctor than "it's not part of your breast tissue." Like, what is it a part of? Sometimes women will get a fatty growth, or lipoma, under the skin of the breast that can look like a very large lump. They are benign growths, but they can look very ominous to anyone who has one ( my daughter had one, so I know!). But the dimpling and the immobility would concern me. I think you should ask your doctor for a better explanation, and one that you can understand.

Hi there,
I think Bev is dead on. The answer the dr. gave would not satisfy me as well. This is your body and you should NOT feel silly or "foolish" calling the doctor again. Call your doctor and insist on what to do next. Why worry yourself sick? If your not happy with your doctor... well I would personally seek a second opinion. Best of luck.
