I have asked everyone what this was with the talc. I had a wonderful old friend respond. The information to be found among us is something very special. I certainly appreciate the help. As I have said the more I learn about this disease the more I realize how really little I know. So happy to learn what this was I thought I would share this info for any of you that care to know.  Here is the info. They put in a chest tube to drain the fluid surrounding the lung (the fluid builds up between the lining and wall of the lung.  Once the lung is fully expanded and the area drained they instill a form of talc and thymal iodide mixed into a solution and instill it into the chest tube.  The hope is that it will cause the area to adhere to itself and stop building up fluid. Lets all pray that it works for Shelley and any of our other ladies that need this treatment. Thanks again for this help. L&H Joyce

Joyce, thank you for explaining the procedure. My mind would not wrap around the idea of talc being placed in the lung. I continue to pray for Shelley.

Joyce, I had a chest tube put in after a botched port placement. I, luckily, did not need to have the talc done. Thanks for researching and posting that info. Sending my prayers Shells way.

WOW... you have to wonder how they figure this stuff out... sending lots of prayers for Shelly, and also for all those dr.s and nurses in the medical profession who are trying their best to help all of us...
