Hi guys
I went for my first chemo yesterday and it went very well.  I have had very few side affects yet.  My pre-chemo meds were Kytril, Decadron, Benadryl, and Pepcid.  My chemo meds were Cyclophosphamide (cytoxan, neosar), Doxorubicin (adriamycin, rubex), and Fluorouracil (adrucil, 5-FU)  The only side effect that I experienced was the Benadryl made me a little drowsy, and during the main chemo drug, my whole body felt real cold, not the usual cold, but like cold running thru my veins, it's hard to explain.  I had eaten a light lunch before the treatment and I had chinese for supper. Later on I had a light stomach ache and indigestion, and gas.  I hope the rest go this well. I'll keep you updated.  Hugs and prayers

Great news! I had the same chemo drugs but not benadryl. I took a little ativan prn if the decadron made me too restless.

I felt a little spacey or loopy for a day or so after..but nothing that was problematic. I ended up taking pepcid throughout chemo. I also found myself unable to drink coffee, but had tea instead. After you get through this cycle, you will be able to predict pretty well how it will go for the rest of the time. I could have set my watch by things....5:00 on Friday started acid reflux, Thursday morning my voice faded (never could explain that one)...etc.

Also, beware of constipation. The pre-meds can be tough on the body. I used, with advice of my RN, a stool softener a few times during the chemo week, and I ate dried apricots to help. Nothing here is too gross to ask, we have been where you are, and are happy to help...

Good for you. Hoping all continues to go well for you. I had AC and remember that cold feeling running through the veins. I also would get a bad headache as soon as they started so I took something for that before I went the next time. Take it easy and rest and remember to drink lots of fluids to flush that nasty stuff out.

So happy to hear it went well for you. I hope all your treatments will go well. Take care and rest, you will be tired from chemo, too, so don't push yourself. Hugs Mk

Glad your chemo went well and you sound so good.  I always found the anticipation of the unkown to be the worst.  Remember to rest and take care of you.  Hugs, Libby

Glad your chemo went well for you. Just take your anti nausea meds for a fews days (or as Dr. prescribed). Don't wait for nausea. Hopefully you don't get any!

So glad things went alright for you. I sure do hope that it continues. Prayers will be going out to you sweetie. Before you know it, this will all be behind you.

I think that the tiredness was one of my worst symptoms when I did chemo.

So glad things went well. Please remember to drink those fluids or you will pay dearly later. I used to eat an apple every night and that seemed to help with the potty issue. I am just so glad to hear how well it went. L&H joyce
