The MUGA is probably what you are referring to. It is totally painless and actually kind of cool to watch. I remember laying on a table while they took films of my heart, and at one time, I was able to see the screen. The procedure should be a breeze.

Hang in there!

Tammy, never had that done, but just wanted you to be on the lookout for pink feathers, I will be there with you.

I tried to send you a post last night when I saw what you added to Cathi's "Hair is falling out", but for some reason, nothing showed up.  By now I am sure you have breezed through the Muga Scan.  Like Lori said, it is kind of cool to watch.  Depending on the type of chemo you will be having they need to know the function of your heart prior to starting chemo.  They may do another when you are finished with chemo to see if it did any damage to the function of your heart also.  I've had 3 over the past 5 years.

Let us know how you did today, and good luck on the chemo.  What will you be having, do you know?  I had a combination Adriamycin and Taxotere when I did mine 5 years ago, so far so good.  In fact I had a check up today and Onc says I am looking good.

Good luck and God Bless,

Hi Tammy! Like Kitty said, this is pretty standard testing before you start chemo. I hope that you didn't have any problems with the test. It really is one of the easier ones that you will have done. I have been back on chemo for the past 18 mos and I have a muga about every 3 mos. What type of chemo will you be having? Try and keep busy this week and weekend. Go out and have fun. Laugh lots. Laughter will not only help get rid of some of the stress but is also a great healer.
