Hello. I am knew here, have been lurking for a bit but after today I need some advice.

At a doctor's appt. about a month and a half ago my doctor informed me that a CT scan I had of my kidneys actually showed a mass on my left breast. So then I was sent for a mammogram which occurred 10 days ago. I have to travel to have both CT and mamm as I live in a small town.

Today I was called to now have an ultrasound of my left breast. I have an appt. next week for that. So first the CT scan, then mamm and now told to have an ultrasound. I don't know what to think. Has anyone ever heard of having a CT scan done of another body part and something shows up in an area they weren't even looking at.

I did have a benign tumor in the same breast 15 years ago. I had no symptoms then. I have had a rash on my chest area (both sides and onto the shoulders so I am hoping it is unrelated) for months that is very itchy which I did tell my doctor about when he first told me about the Ct scan.

I am thinking if it this is serious would it take this long to work it all out. Any thoughts, advice would be so greatly appreciated.

This is not unusual.  The imaging field of the CT scan is larger than the area of interest, in your case the kidney. The entire field is viewed and examined by the radiologist and often other things are found.  Your doctors are to be commended for following up! Mammograms are often followed by ultra sound because they give the doctors more detail if there is an area of concern. Most lesions found in the breast are benign, as you have already experienced. Try not to worry until all the tests are completed and you know if there is something to worry about! Good luck!

Hey Victory 13 - the best thing to do is try not to worry - I'm in my 2nd year of Mammograms and Ultrasounds - back and forth between right and left side. The newest is a 6 month follow up of mammo and ultrasound which revealed a new complex cyst which they want to look at 3 months time with Ultrasound. I try very hard not to linger on what could happen and try to stay positive (though sometimes your thoughts move into a bad direction).... The only question I have is when should they aspirate or remove - how long is long enough? Shelmagator

Hello Shelmagator.

Thank you so much for your post. I am trying hard not to think about it as you said and sometime it works other times not so much. I just hate the waiting. I hear you about removing the cyst or not. It's a complicated thing. I hope all works out the best for you.
Take care.
