Has anyone noticed that when they take sleeping pills with effexor that the menapause hot flashes and sweats seem to return for awhile.. See my fam doc gave me Sonata before this all started at the begining to help me sleep now that I am almost done with everything and only taking radiation occasionally I have tried to take Sonata for sleep and it seems like everytime I take it I wake up with hot flashes and sweats... the only other med I am on right now is effexor... it controls my menapause symptoms but when I take sonata it seems to come back for that night has anyone noticed this too... I looked up the side effects of Sonata and effexor and what drugs not to take with effexor and the only one I found in sleeping pill form was Ambien... they said the two drugs interact together not sure what they do... since Sonata is a sleeping pill together wonder if they interact together too.. and that is why.. has anyone run across this... I have quit taking sonata now hate how it makes me feel during the night... was thinking about trying tylenol PM but not sure what it will do.. any suggestions??? ..... skeeter1

I don't know the answer, but your local pharmacist could help. I am sure they have reference books where they can check out all sorts of combinations. Maybe someone else will know more. Hugs MK

I am no doc and that is who I would check with, but I was on effexor and they switched me to celexa. I also take ambien when having problems sleeping. I have not noticed any problems mixing the two. I will tell you that I read somewhere that you shouldn't take Tylenol PM if you are just wanting to sleep. It said you shouldn't take more meds than you need as in Tylenol PM...it also has med for pain and fever, etc. Tylenol has a new product out that I can vouch for called Simply Sleep. It is just to aid in sleeping and no other meds. Good luck!

I am one that doesn't like to take meds and when I need them, I forget that they are there. I have night sweats even though I had a total hyster at age 31 (now 55). Are you taking both of these at the same time? If so, maybe take them a couple of hrs apart. As for the Tylenol PM, my onco does not want any of her patients on this. She is very cautious about over the counter drugs. I would talk to my onco and see what she/he suggests.

Stay cool...Deb
