Hi All,
I was just wondering if any of you have had a bone density test and have been followed up with a 24 hour urine test. One has been prescribed for me and I wondered if anyone here knows anything about this test.  I have had my urine checked numerous times (too many to count) for bladder/kidney infections, however, I have never heard of this kind of a test.  They are wanting me to collect my urine for 24  hours (refrigerate it or put in cooler) and take it in after the 24 hours to be analyzed. Just curious if anyone here has had to do this.  Think I will go to Web MD and see just what they are looking for with this test.

Have had bone density test done, but never with a urine test. I wonder why the doctor is doing this, Deb. Lauri

I have had both of these tests. The bone density was done this year because of pain at the base of my spine. There was nothing to that test.

The urine test was taken about 6 weeks after a bout with a kidney stone. I can't remember what they were looking for and I haven't heard of it since then.

Hope the net can provide you with more info but sometimes it can give you unnecessary stress. Let us know what happens. I'm curious about the urine test, too.

I did the 24 hour test in August because my regular urinalysis showed too much protein or albumin. It is a check for kidney function. It shows the 24 hr output as well as components like albumin, urea, sugar, etc. My test came out ok. I am sure that you have been told to do it because of all the infections you have had. I am surprised it was not done sooner. It is not as bad as it sounds. Rather a pain in the middle of the night when all you want to do is get back to bed asap. I am up about every two hours so that part was not fun. LOL Hugs MK
