Hello all,
Haven't been here in awhile....mostly because I've been busy with lots of changes in my life (mostly good). But I do lurk occasionally and think about my old friends, hoping you're doing well.  Te short of it is, I'm leaving NC to the Philadelphia area and so need to find a new onc. for my follow-up care.  I know there are lots of good places here but am just wondering if anyone has any personal recommendations?  I finished my 5 years of tamoxifen and am back on the Zoladex injections so I can take Femara so still need to be seen regularly.  Hard to believe it's been 6 years since dx and 5 + years since the "end" of treatment. (Congrats Lori too!).
Thanks and hugs,

Joyce, Lemonz is in that area. She hasn't been around a lot lately. I think husband and grandchildren may be taking preference right now. LOL. I will email her and ask her to check in. Hope your move is great and you are happy in the new location. Hugs, MK

Patty, dear girl, I check in every week to see what's happening, and here you are MOVING out of NC. What's happening? Hope it's good, good. Have you seen Patti or Barbara recently? I've lost touch with everyone, it seems. I'm 8 years out now, started Femara two years ago and stopped it a couple of months ago. Onc said she supported my decision. Even though I was taking the calcium and Vit. D supplements as prescribed, was having bone deterioration that could really, really be seen from year to year on the bone density studies. Keep an eagle eye on that when you go on it. It seems I was having 100% certainty of bone destruction for a drug that gave me 3% help. Hope I'm never in the situation of second guessing myself!

Best of luck on your move and continued GOOD health. If you still have your old e-mail address, I'll send you my new one -- on Roadrunner now.

Love, Glenda

Hi, Patty, You say Philly area...does that mean you would go into Phila.? I have a great Onc. listed as one of Phillies finest. Dr. Cantor, he is located in Norristown and T. Jefferson in Phila. I have other names if you just let me know what area you are talking about. My sister in law also has a great one. I love my onc. but I must warn you parking and traffic are not a joy. The good news is you can get a mamo and get your results before you leave. Please let me know what area you are in and I will try to get you any info you need. If you are North of Philly on 95 you also have Fox Chase. Please let me know if I can help in any way. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. This is our time of year to travel. Thanks to MK or I might not have seen this. I might have to leave again because of a relative needing heart surgery so if I do not get back to you its because I am in Fla. Hugs and hope I will be able to help. Joyce
How wonderful it would be to see Angels where there are only clouds. How sad it would be to see clouds where there are Angels.

Hello again my friends. Thank you for your responses and your warm welcome back!  To fill you in a bit on my saga, Tom and I have been wanting to move back to the northeast for quite awhile, so when he got a reasonably good job opportunity, we decided it was "now or never!"  Not that we didn't love NC, but we wanted to be closer to family. So we are now only 1 1/2 hours from my sister and brother in NJ and an hour from my other brother who lives north of Philly. We are excited to be able to spend more time with our four young nieces and nephews as well as our goddaughters in MD and in Toronto and some close friends in the area.  We are very excited about our move; however for me finding a job has been more difficult than I anticipated.  I am thinking I want to make a career shift and have been exploring jobs with, among other non-profits, the American Cancer Society.  Hopefully something good will come along soon!  Meanwhile, I spend the week in NC and the weekend in PA, and we still have LOTS of unpacking to do....  We had just finished foster care training in NC and are hoping it will transfer here, as we would still like to foster with the goal of adopting...
Glenda, I do still have my old email but it will change soon, so if you send me your new email I will send you mine too!  I unfortunately have not heard from Patti S. or Barbara in a long time, and I missed the Komen Race this year because I was traveling.  Thanks also for the heads up on Femara.  I have been on it about 4 months I guess. They did a bone density at the beginning and I assume I will have another one in a year.  I had been thinking about doing the oophrectomy so I would not have to do the Zoladex anymore and could still take the Femara, but now maybe I'll wait a bit...Sheesh - - too many decisions to make!
Joyce, we live on the west side of Philly in Drexel Hill.  Nice thing is, I can pretty easily get anywhere from here.  The trolley stop is just a block away and from there I can easily get the subway to UPenn or anywhere else in the area if I need to.  I know from a visit there that parking is a pain -- and pricey!  But I am willing to go pretty far for a good doc - I used to drive an hour to Duke.  So any and all advice is welcome, whenever you get a chance.  I hope your relative in Fla. is okay!
Thanks again for your help and support!
