Everyone usually prefers Thanksgiving or Christmas, but this is the day that I prefer. Gotta make sure that there are no evil spirits around to interfere with All Saint's Day. I'm sure it goes back to my Celtic roots and the Druids.

As my daughter so nicely corrected me, it turns out that I have been making Halloween costumes for 40 years. This year, there has been no rush to try to find the kids to measure them. No going to 5 or 6 fabric stores to get just the right item. No cramping my right hand, which has been weak since the strokes, cutting out the fabric.

No being up late at night to sew or doing the final fittings which usually kept me busy right up to today. I told my daughter that I just couldn't do that anymore and that I was going to buy the costumes. She said she wondered why I had waited so long.

The 3J's and I went internet shopping. Jordan is a little blase about her costumes. She's been a belly dancer, Cinderella, and other princess type costumes. This year, she chose Sleeping Beauty. Joseph was a man with a mission. He just had to be Wolfman. Jaidan is too little to know what's up so I got her the Valerie Tabor Smith Ribbon Fairy costume. Frankly, I don't think I could have gotten all the fabric for what these costumes cost me but it was worth it not to have the aggravation.

The costumes arrived and the kids were excited. First, Jordan came out and modeled Sleeping Beauty. It is a very nice costume and she loves it. Next came Cruella (Jaidan) and she really does look like a little fairy. The wings are just beautiful.

The last to model their costume was Joseph. His costume has the Larry Talbot shirt, wolfman hands, and the most life-like mask. The teeth are made out of resin and it looks so real. Joseph comes out to model while giving out convincing growls. We're all laughing and Cruella goes beserk.

She was so scared that she started running in place and shaking, trying to cry but couldn't catch her breath. Most people would feel sympathy for her but not me. That will teach her to laugh at my Godzilla movies.

Just in case she didn't get the message, I kept the box here. Anymore laughing at Godzilla and the life-like Wolfman box comes out.

Who says Halloween is not the best time of the year?

Hugs, Jo-Ann

Jo-Ann, I'm glad you had a happy Halloween with your kids. I know they looked just perfect. Also glad you decided to buy this year instead of making them, since it can be hard on the hands. Mine start to cramp, and I haven't had any strokes. I sew some, and had to make a purse for a project of my daughter. I know how the "all niters" can go. My prob was, that the first bag I made for her, the handle didn't stay like it should have and rolled the bag into a bloody mess. I had to do it all over again. All nite, since I was just told the evening before it was due. I'm sure you all had a good time, and keeping the box is a pretty good idea. lol Hopeyou have a good day
