As I understand it, the MRI is a clearer picture, but more expensive to be done routinely. Although you want to catch cancer as early as possible, you can take a few weeks to make decisions if you need to have a mastectomy and want reconstruction. My daughter set up both so she would be all done with one surgery and to get two surgeons with the same available date took about
a month. If you have a lumpectomy you will probably get it done quickly. I had a mastectomy quickly, it was my choice to follow up the lumpectomy biopsy with the mastectomy right away and get it over with. I had reconstruction done seven months later.
As I said before, your doctor sounds like a real gem.
