Hi again, want to thank those who replied (3-23-06), it really does help. Anyway, when I had the biopsy the dr. inserted a clip so she could see where she was, then I had another mammo. She called yesterday and told me that their mammo showed more than the one I have taken somewhere else. There was more cancer showing, so she would have to cut more than she had originally thought. I have to go Tues. for an MRI and then see her afterwards. I was feeling a little bit better until she said found more. What does the MRI show that a sonagram doesn't?

Do they usually try to do surgery as soon as possible after finding it?

Just venting again,thanks

As I understand it, the MRI is a clearer picture, but more expensive to be done routinely. Although you want to catch cancer as early as possible, you can take a few weeks to make decisions if you need to have a mastectomy and want reconstruction. My daughter set up both so she would be all done with one surgery and to get two surgeons with the same available date took about a month. If you have a lumpectomy you will probably get it done quickly. I had a mastectomy quickly, it was my choice to follow up the lumpectomy biopsy with the mastectomy right away and get it over with. I had reconstruction done seven months later.

As I said before, your doctor sounds like a real gem.
