I don't know very much about this, but I have a lot of symptoms/signs of IBC. How long did you show symptoms before you were diagnosed?? Are there any chat rooms or support groups??

Hello Chelsea! Welcome. I would suggest that you contact either your family physician or obgyn for an appointment. Tell them the problems that you are having and get started w/ the tests. Have you had breast problems in the past? What makes you think that you have IBC? If you haven't had a mammo, get one scheduled. But before becoming to frightened, make the appointment w/ your physician and go from there.

I want to mention that IBC does not always show up on mammos. I had one and was told I was fine. This was in March of '98. I complained until October, I insisted something was wrong then I started turning all different colors. Skin texture was different and finally, they realized I was not fine and something was going on. They did a ct scan and they found my issue. I understand I am not alone, it is common for mammos to fail with IBC. They finally figured mine out when it was so ugly they could not longer say it was nothing. You did not mention what makes you think you have IBC. I know a lot of us would be glad to help but we really need to know more to help. If you think you have it, you really need to listen to Deb and get to a doctor.

Hugs Joyce

I did not have IBC, just invasive ductal here. But this is a good site with lots of information on IBC. Good luck to you. Lauri

Yes, please tell us more about your symptoms... mine had characteristics of IBC (puckering of the skin), but the onc and surgeon differed on their opinions as to whether it was or not.  Here is a good site:

good luck and let us know how you're doing... Stefanie

I know our dear Joyce is evidence, IBC can be overcome, so please don't wait for it to get worse before you get to a Doctor. I sat down beside a woman in my onc's office one day, and I learned that she had been diagnosed with IBC 13 years prior. I was awed by this lady!
