Good morning all. As I have previously posted, I will be seeing the oncol this week and had a quest re chemo. While I realize that everyone's trmt may be different, it seems most of you rec'd a/c x4 and then taxol x4. My question many actual trmts are there? Does it mean that there are 4 of each every 2-3 wks or 4 of one 1st every 2-3 wks then 4 of the other for an additional 2 I making sense...I hope so. Seems maybe the actual chemo part may last 2-4 mos?
Thanks so much,

THe chemo is based on the type of bc you have. I have E+ and P+ and Her- so I will have 6 cycles of CAF. I had my first one on Thursday. I will go every 3 weeks for a total of 18 weeks. MY doc told me I would not get Taxol because of the type of bc I have. I will then be put on meds for 5 years until I go into menapause then something after that. Good luck Judie and I wish you all the best with your upcoming treatment.

Hi leah.
I was alsp er/pr + and Her2-, had 1/19 lymph nodes +, IDC 1.1 cm gr 1-2 and stage IIa. I am 49 yrs old. Is this similar to you? How was your 1st trmt? Do you have a port? Follow-up meds for side effects? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm sure you know the anxiety of anticipated trmt probable worse than actual trmt itself..
Hope you are doing well.

Judie- Yes, your individual treatment plan will vary.  I was dx in Feb. 2001 with Stage IIB, er-/pr- her2neu 3+++, 5 nodes of 49 positive.  We decided on 3 A/C + 3 FEC + 4 Taxotere + Herceptin for one year.  The A/C and FEC treatments were every 3 weeks I think, and the taxotere was every 2 wks (honestly I could be wrong about that).... after the taxotere I did 33 rounds of radiation with a low-dose chemo (cant remember what that was), and finished Herceptin in july 02.   I wanted any and all chemo they could give me, I didn't care at all how bad I felt because I knew it would pass. At the time my kids were 2, 4 and 6 !  Now they are 12, 9 and 8.... so to me it was well worth it... I just had to get to that 5-yr mark.. now that I have passed it, we'll see how much more time I get!!! ;-)  Good Luck!

hugs- Stefanie
