I don't normally post here but this thread caught my eye.  In MS this is very common - I am not by any means saying that is what you have by the way.  But we MSers use a few thing that can help.  I have near total numbness of my feet but I do get an icy hot sensation too.  Neurontin is effective but some use lyrica as well.  For some cymbalta is effective.  Others of us just learn to live with it.  Good luck.

Hi LV! Your post caught my eye too, I normally post on the fibro forum but when I read your post I felt like you were talking about me! I'm the one that posted the glutathione/atp thread here so I speak from experience over several years. Lyrica did help me substantially but I gained 10 lbs over approx. 3 weeks and I decided to give it up....I didn't want to trade one problem for another. I tried cymbalta for about 2 months....it helped a little with the burning and other pains but I turned into Mr. Hyde from Dr. Jeckyl. I became a mean-spirited, impatient, rude, very short tempered ogre and it took my wife and daughter both together virtually pleading with me to even realize it so I stopped that cold turkey. Bad mistake.....1st day started feeling dizziness, nausea and numerous "brain zaps" (little electrical-like "zzzzzt zzzzt" sounds/sensations every time I moved my head or eyes that made me even more dizzy and nauseous. I had to go back to my previous antidepressant med I'd taken since 1985 (prozac) but at a higher dose which, thank God, cleared all that up and brought me back to Dr. Jeckl.(LOL) Finally, I saw a rheumy who dx'd me with fibro, cfs and cebv and immediatelt started me on that glutathione/atp regimen which has brought me a great amount of relief. The burning sensations are at much more manageable levels now so check out that glut/atp thread for more info and the very best of luck for you in this most unpleasant of journeys!

Gentle hugs for ya',
John
