My Story:
2 Years ago I was training for a marathon, getting my master's degree and completing my first year of teaching. Slowly my body began to break down, I was 110 pounds and 5'8, running 70 miles per week, eating about 1,800 cals and working and going to school full time. Eventually I came down with mono. Now this was not the bid ridden mono, just more tired then usual. Well I then started to notice that the more I tried to return to the gym, my fatigue would return as well as my sore throat and general feeling of the flu. This all began in November, by May I was almost back to my normal self again but needed daily naps and of course was only going to the gym 4-5 times per week and running about 4 miles daily. Things continued to go well all through last year until I decided to revamp my running very quickly and my blood sugar levels got all messed up and I was back to square one with the overwhelming fatigue. This happened last Feb. and by April/May I was back to normal again.
Well this summer around July 4th I started getting this horrible gross feeling, stomach upset nausea. I woke up with a fever, and a an obvious virus. I went to the doctor and they said I had a bacterial infection and gave me antibiotics. Two days later I received my period (which I have not had since January and before that I have not had for 6 years). For about the first week or so I was out cold with flu like symptoms. As the weeks have gone by I have noticed I have gotten better, more energy but still am unable to return to the gym.
Well it is back to school time and I have to start teaching and I cant kick the nausea that is going on with the high body temp. My body feels really hot to touch and I just get this feeling that I am going to throw up which I never do. This mostly happens at night when I fall asleep. I noticed the more I do, the stronger the nausea at night. I have also started birth control in the past month, and when I had my period again I noticed that the flu symptoms came back stronger then ever and whipped me out.
My question is I got blood work done, and they said I did not have mono but I did have a virus in me. I am not overly tired, a little but I can function pretty much with getting up at 6am and making it until 10 at night. Is this just a virus that wont leave or a CFS relapse? All my other blood work showed up normal, can nausea with chills/fever last for over a month. I have never had these symptoms with CFS before.
