I've been researching adrenal issues for years and have done several rounds of cortisol hormone replacement, diet, lifestyle, and supplements with varied success.

But now I'm wanting my life to end soon. Not being morbid, but this is not a good life. I hurt. And I'm over it.

I know about tracking temps and symptoms and have kept score over the past couple of years. I was doing well but contracted a bacterial infection of some kind and really hammered me. I lost ALL the gains I had spent years achieving.

I have a history of congenital adrenal damage. My mom suffered from many adrenal/thyroid weaknesses and while she was pregnant with me, she nearly died from pneumonia. I have have had illnesses all my life and at age 59, I'm really worn out.

Here's my question: With normal temps reached early and maintained each day, what else could be going on? I thought Lyme's, but lack many of the horrible symps.

I have some hydrocortisone tabs that I can supplement with, but the results are inconsistent.

Can anyone see something that I'm missing?

Hey, I don't know the answer to your questions, but I just wanted to say don't give up. I know it SUCKS. It sucks really bad, and it is unfair, but please hang in there and find someone to talk to. Call the hotline at 1-800-273-8255 if you have any thoughts of hurting yourself. You are more special to the people in your life than you can possibly know! I just want to give you a big hug (gently!) Be aware also that a lot of times after an infection, your body and brain gets very tired from fighting - and your body was already tired, so it's natural to be depressed and it may take a little time but you will get worked back up to where you were. Hugs again!

Hi!  I'm not usually in this forum but heard about your question.  Have you had other illnesses ruled out?  Things like lupus and Lyme?  I am a mod on the fibromyalgia forum and we have many of the same symtoms.  We do have pain and fatigue...that's the hallmark of the illness.

The second thread on the fibromyalgia forum is called Fibro 101.  There are good links about fibro and you can see if this possibly could be what is going on.  Good starting links would be Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  Who know?  You just might see yourself there.

We have a very active and friendly forum and we sure understand chronic fatigue!  So why don't you hop over to it and maybe some of the members can give you a hand.  It is so depressing having chronic illnesses but we can still have an enjoyable life in spite of it.  Maybe we can give you a hand!

I have suspected Lyme's and have researced for months. Not sure yet. Don't have many of the neuro symps. Then again... you know how it goes.

Read info you suggested. Thanks!

Chronic pain. It is no longer a story from someone, and article in a magazine, or a vague concept, it's my body right now. At a time when I need to be my strongest and sharpest I'm so weak and apathetic.

I have a theory that Fibro/CF is mostly adrenal/thyroid related, at least endocrine. What advances have been made is determining cause?

They're still working on that Oldschool.  They think this is a neurological problem.  In Fibro 101 there is a link called Doctor's Respond to New York Times Article.  You will see what the specialists are studying.

I've heard that fibro, chronic fatigue, and also myofacial pain syndrome are so similar that they possibly could be the same problem.  They aren't sure yet.  We with fibromyalgia have gone through a myriad of testing to rule out things like lupus and Lyme.  It usually takes years to get a diagnosis of fibro because most of our tests come back just fine.  That's what's happening to you for the most part, right?

I hope you will introduce yourself in the fibro forum and ask your questions.  Our members have gone through a lot of what you are describing.  Hope to meet you there!

Hey Old School!!! I was just laying around and opened this thread and saw you!!

I'm in "the cycle" myself right now too ANSI take 20mg a day of cortisol for this adrenal fatigue. My back feels like it is burning with daggers going through it.

My entire torso feels black n blue.
It hurts to lay my back on my bed .

Anyway, one of the most interesting books I have read in last two years is by
Dr Jernigan. It is called Beating Lyme disease but a lot of his
Info applys to fibromyalgia, CFS , adrenal and most chronic illness.

The other book is The Pain Chronicles.

Today was one of those give up days too.
It gets to me too.
You take care. Check out the Jernigan book even if
You don't think you have Lyme.
Xxxx

I forgot to ask if your doctor checked your ACTH levels.
