Hi everyone. I'm an 18 year old female from Canada. I've been suffering from almost every symptom of CFS for 10 months now. I have a chronic sore throat, swollen nodes in the neck and armpits, digestive problems (chronic bloating after eating etc.), severe fatigue that has been constant for all ten months except last summer (i didnt work or anything, i pretty much relaxed all summer) and for 2-3 wks in the last month, and weakness/exhaustion after exercising, going to school for 3 hrs, or working. there's more, but it could take forever. I've been to throat specialists (all was fine), heart specialists (for skipped heartbeats.. also all fine), bowel specialists (all fine again) and dozens of times to see my own doctor in the last 10 months. Everything is coming up fine, i'm healthy as a peach, but i feel horrible. it's really interfering with my life. my parents dont have a "medical diagnosis" of anything so they're always on my ass about working more and doing better in school and whenever i'm tired they say "i'm tired too" or "not used to getting up early, huh?". it drives me nuts because i'm not tired... i'm EXHAUSTED beyond belief.
the problem is, my doctor says CFS only happens to adults later in life and that to get CFS one has to have had a injury prior to it. i've read a lot about many medical conditions lately and CFS is the only thing that includes every one of my symptoms, not excluding a single thing, and i know that CFS isn't only onset by injury. thats just one theory...
does it sound like CFS? i just need an answer as to what on earth this is!! any advice would be amazing. thx!

Sorry you're having such a terrible time. It is such a hopeless feeling, isn't it? I have not been diagnosed yet with anything either. I'm 36 and I've hit this wall of fatigue. My arms/legs hurt, tingle, etc. I have other symptoms. I'm seeing my GP and neuro. All blood tests have been fine. MRI was normal. So, they are continuing testing. Have you had your b12 level checked? I had mine checked about three months ago and was deficient. Of course, I felt better for a day or so after my first injection, and then the bottom fell out. I've been fighting symptoms ever since. My b12 is back to normal and has been for some time, but my symptoms seem to keep progressing. I don't know much about CFS. I just came to this forum to see if I shared any symptoms. I have found out one thing during all of this....no one is going to make sure that you are taken care of, but yourself. Change doctors if you need to. Keep on their butts about your health. At times, they seem to think it's all in your head, I'm sure. But, you know and I know that the symptoms are real. Hang in there, and make someone get to the bottom of this for you. Find a doc that you have confidence in and can talk to. Good luck. Tanya

Hi birdchic,
Welcome to HealingWell and the CFS forum!
I just the other day came across a Canadian pediatric/adolescent CFS website. Let me see if I can find it, and I'll be right back and post a link to it, for you. I'm sure they can point you to the right Dr. Hang in there!

Ok rats!  I couldn't find the exact same site, but I found this list of 8 or 10 websites for adolescent CFS.  Just click on the address below:

Hope this helps  :-)
