Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I have to say, I'm not feeling very supported by my current family doctor, and I'm feeling very alone and worried about my future. At my last visit with my MD she said she wasn't comfortable giving me a diagnosis of CFS, that perhaps she would make a referral to the rheumatologist again( who previously tetsed me for Lupus, hypothyroidism.........everything was negative). She's not the warmest of people either.  I'm wondering how you were diagnosed, and if any of you live in Ottawa-and can recommend a doctor that specializes in CFS. I'm also wondering about treatment options.

My kids need me and I need to get back to work..

Saw the rheumatologist today. Sending me for blood tests again to make sure it's nothing else. Definitely hesitant to speak to CFS. What???He said that it probably won't get better, and there wasn't much he could do for me. What????Needless to say I cried, then I got mad........

Has anyone heard of the Nightingale Foundation in Ottawa? I'm thinking of seeking treatment there.

Anybody out there?

Hi Sunny, sorry to hear of your situation especially while caring for children.  I hadn't seen your post before since I haven't visited this forum.

I'm in Ottawa also and just met with my new GP today.  I like him so far.   smilewinkgrin   We'll see.  Finding a good Dr. is like finding a proper fitting and comfy pair of shoes.  You also have to try a few pairs to find the right ones for you.

I'm tired much of the time also but haven't looked into CFS.  I don't see the point really.  I pretty well know that medications causing insomnia, severe RA, and Diabetes Type 1 living in and attacking my body is tireing.

As Suzane mentioned try the Nightingale Foundation.  You could also try:

and/or

It will take some legwork(phonework) of course.

Good Luck with your search and I hope that you feel better soon.

Hi Suzane: smilewinkgrin

How was your Easter celebration?  I hope that it went well.

I'm in the east end too but not that far east, although we did buy our flooring at Lowes in Blackburn Hamlet.  Well, that would be interesting.  Weirder things have happened.  I'm not sure how we could meet though since I don't put my personal info publicly online.  Good to talk to you online anyways.

Hi Suzane:

Ha!  I didn't notice the envelope.  Gotcha!  I woke up in a lot of RA  pain on Friday but better on  Sat.  Maybe thats cuz the Sens won. smilewinkgrin Not as much sun going on as I expected but at least it's warmer.  My lilacs and peas are doing good.  Thanks for the address.  I'll send you a note, hopefully later today.  Enjoy today!!

That's great. I look forward to hearing from you. I am visiting in Kingston right now, back home tomorrow night. Having fun with my SIL, doing some shopping and now some scrapbooking. Yeah Sens.
My head is killing me but nothing new. Just keep plugging along.

Hi, everyone,

I'm also new to Ottawa and this site, and looking for a good GP and also a rheumatologist reference for my CFS (my Toronto GP refused to refer me to a rheumatologist, saying I wanted "something exotic.")

Wondering if sunny days or others have found someone good? I've looked in the ratemds for a GP, and will look at the other links suggested.

Thanks!

Hi Singout, I am not from Canada so I can't help you with a GP or Rheumy referral but I do want to welcome you to the forum. I hope you get your questions answered. Many hugs, Denise
