Sometimes the challenges we face coping with chronic illness be downright overwhelming. We all experience those moments of weakness where we give way to the groundswell of emotions arising from our illness. It can be so difficult some days to truly stay focused on healing well. One of my Twitter friends posted recently that "the enemy is not pain. The enemy is despair." That is so true. But there is hope. To my friends who feel like giving up.....

I wrote this down after reading it.....very powerful.  I plan to read it daily, especially when those low moments come.  My struggle is not knowing about recovery, and to what degree.  So hard to plan for the future with this.  I know we all need to stay in the moment, but one has to be vigilant about future plans to some degree.  Curious how others find that balance, to not stress about the future, but at the same time deal with it.

Hello,

I joined these forums for a reason unrelated to CFS, but I just wanted to reiterate the 'don't give up'. I used to have CFS and was bed bound for 3 years, (ill for 5), paralysed at times and unable to take in any sensory information. It was such a nightmare I barely remember it.

I have now been working full time for 2 years and am completely healthy (I am here because of acid reflux! Such a little problem in comparison :))

I noticed when I was at my worst that not many people who recovered came back to tell the tale, so I always promised myself I would make sure people know it does happen.

Definitely don't give up.
