Ok I am a 53 yr old man...BMI is perfect..5'8" tall weigh 140

I was told about 25 yrs ago I had CFS...most of the Drs said that was a bogus diagnosis...my EBV titers were off the chart...I did get feeling better after a year but never really back to 100 percent but I wu=ould say 98%...

 I am into biking and running and exercise everyday...my recent blood work from last week is:

HDL= 120

LDL= 75

VLDLP= 10

Trigl.=50

Glucose=97

all else good EXCEPT WBC = 3.1

Now my white blood count has been from 2.8 to a high of 3.8 for many years...I am NEVER sick not even a cold..whn I cut myself I heal in one day and I have lots of energy and feel fine...My Dr says "dont worry"

2 yrs ago when it was 2.8 he ordered tons of blood work, blood smear, sed rate etc...scan of my spleen and belly...all negitive..

Now I do have an enlarged prostate and it gives me infection symptoms from time to time if I dont drink enough water...

 Could this cause the low WBC or could it be the CFS ???

Wen they did all the blod work 2 yrs ago the hemotoligist told me " you had mono"

I don't see how you could have a diagnosis of chronic fatigue when you don't have the most obvious symptom - fatigue. You say you have "lots of energy and feel fine."

Hi cvc, Welcome to our little corner of the pond. From what I understand, I agree with princessa about why they would diagnose you with CFS when you had no symptoms except the Mono titters. Of course 25 years ago they new even less about CFS than they do now so it was probably just the catch-all diagnosis of the day, not that things have changed all that much. As far the WB count, I would say yes definitely related to the prostate issue. Have they said why your Prostate is enlarged?, I know that can be a sign of issues way worse than mono or CFS. My advice, as a non-doctor is to concentrate on treating your prostate issue and not to worry about a 25yr. old diagnosis. Hopefully you won't need this part of the Forum again, but if you do, were here.
