I was tested for EBV due to being in a research program which asked me to after a type 1 diabetes diagnosis. I have been exhausted for a long time now although I still manage to do quite a bit.

These are my results:

EBV to VCA, IGG = 214.6
EBV to VCA, IGM < 10
EBV to NUCLEAR AG I = 79.9
EBV to EARLY AG IGG = 46

I'm not sure what this means. I have looked at a few different sites and it seems I have had EBV in the past and may be having a recurrance now, but I'm not sure. As far as I know I've never had a mono like event at all. But I have suffered from chronic bouts of fatigue and I've felt very fatigued after 2 hospitalizations and being on insulin etc.

I have also had flucutuating low wbc, mchc and mph. They were not very low. 3-4 months ago my gp did a more extensive blood count which showed some other numbers off, but she said it wasn't cause for concern. My last test last week showed low numbers again but only by .5 to 1 point from the range.

I also have mild fybromyalgia and chronic pain.

Thanks for your input :)

Is there a reason no one has replied to my post? I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out what this means? If I have had a recent recurrence of mono, or if this is something else going on? I talked with my endo last week and he thought I should see a hematologist. What do you think? I'm now really sick with something it may be strep throat or a virus. My culture is still not back yet. This is the second time I have been sick this year, I got sick after having a flu and pneumonia shot on the same day. I had a fever and chills, achiness for 3 days after that which spiked my bg too. I will not be getting anymore vaccinations ever again as I feel they lowered my resistance. I was told to get them due to the diabetes but I had never had any since I was a child and had never had flu shot. I basically never get flu.

meowee, sorry you have not received any responses, this forum is not super active but we try. I would like to welcome you to the forum. I do not have EBV so I am no help with your questions & all of the numbers are Greek to me. Hopefully, someone will come along soon who can help you. Take care of yourself, hugs, Denise

Thank you Denise for the welcome,

I will check back to see if anyone can help me. I was so sick last night, vomiting all night and now my bg is running high all day. I will go to the doctor for blood work next week if this doesn't clear up soon. I must have a terrible flu bug. No more flu or pneumonia shots every again! I just want to feel better again I've been sick for 7 days now. Hugs to you too- Ellie

I have EBV and many others, plus Chronic Lyme Disease.

Have you been tested for LYme??

Many with it have several viruses too.

In extensive research for the last 3 yrs. or so, I discovered that EBV is passed by most mothers to their babies and then it is reactivated later in life if one becomes ill, or has a low immune system which I do, it was tested and my CD-57 test showed a 17, normal is 200. You may consider getting this test. Beware most docs do not have a clue what it is, you must fight for it.
And it isn't cheap. I hope you have insurance to help.

Also, chronic Lyme is hard to get a positive test even though you have it. The bacteria, called Spirochetes, they hide in fat and in the brain and other places where the tests can't find them... so it is usually a clinical diagnosis. I would, if I were you, go online and research Chronic Lyme and i'ts co infections, and see the symptoms of lyme and Bartonella, and Babesia, which are two of several and the two I have.

Hope this helps hon.

Hi Bek,

Yes I was tested for lyme disease about 6 months before I went into dka and I believe it was negative- I had the antibody testing only. I will research that test. I think maybe a hematologist is the first thing to do since I've had low wbc and other numbers on and off for a year. I don't have immune deficiency as far as I know. My cats were tested negative for bartonella. Do you follow any treatments for the lyme disease and other viruses? Do you have any idea what my ebv test results mean exactly?

thanks!

I was noticing that you had vaccines. I already had chronic fatigue syndrome with chronic EBV with high titers showing reactivation/chronic myself. Wondered when you had those vaccines. I feel that made my resistance worse too when I had them end of 2011 with already a chronic and reactivated EBV going on. It was supposed to help my sinus infections that I was getting around 3 times a year or so. It made me so sick and I have not been able to completely regain my health either and have these infections even worse now and EBV titers that will not go down very much. Lately things have been lovely and my WBC is off too with low lymphs on the differential. I do not know what to think is going on. My lymph nodes are swollen too in neck and armpits and having the sinus symptoms and sore throats. I do hope you are feeling better.
