Ok, so I posted a few weeks ago and no one responded. I'll try to put this a different way. Has anyone else had problems with other viruses causing their CFS? I am positive for not only EBV but also Parvo virus and a Herpes 6 virus. Has anyone ever taken anti virals and had results?

I can't get rid of this fatigue! I can't get a follow up appt for a few weeks. I am gonna call my doc tomorrow to see if she can't see me before then. I am sooo tired of being tired I can't stand it. I've taken some vitamins which do seem to help. Where does one get the glutathione shots?? Can you take supplements?

Might look at the essential oils. They are very powerful in fighting bacteria and viruses. I use Oil of Oregano everyday.

My slow decline started with a unknown chest infection and manifested from there. Fast forward 6 months and was tested for EBV, CMV, HHV6 (Labcorp). I was told that my elevated IGG HHV6 was causing my CFS. My titers were only at a 2 with anything being over a 1 as positive (although 2 doesn't seem high for a reactivated virus IMO). I started Valcyte and only made it three days with extremely bad flu type symptoms. I stopped Valcyte due to the reaction and now have taken three IV infusions of Cidofovoir (vistide).

After the three days of Valcyte my titers jumped to 3. After the second infusion, they jumped to 9. So far other than herx type reactions/worsening of symptoms for the last month on antivirals, I cant say its helped yet. My titers have skyrocketed during treatment so I don't know what that means other than upsetting the virus I guess. I will try to report back down the road as this treatment is scheduled to go on for months before the Dr. says I could notice a change. Its only been about 1.5 months so far and supposedly could be for up to one year if needed.

Sorry to hear you've been sick Joey. So, the CFS hasn't been going on that long, it was more like an acute illness after which you had fatigue? It can sometimes take a long time to get over some viruses.

For me, it's been a long, chronic thing. I have no recollection of ever getting sick with these viruses unless it was mistaken for the flu when I was younger. I do remember getting a few really bad cases of the flu in my 20's.

I hope you see some progress soon.

I have FM and most likely CFS also. I had mono in my early teens, but saw a huge shift in my health and all these debilitating symptoms after I had the West Nile about 7 years ago.

Yes, I do believe that these illnesses are related to viruses, flues and other body stressors we may have had. It is not contagious like other viruses, so how and why we get it is a mystery.

For me the CFS just seemed to come on out of the blue. I don't remember a beginning, I was under a long term stressor & when it was over the fatigue continued to get worse & worse. I don't think I was ever sick with something but I can't say that I wasn't. My grandson was really ill for about 2 1/2 years & it is all a blur now. When it was over & he was okay, I had CFS. When people ask me if I had a virus or some other illness, I have to say I don't know. I do know that I had CFS more then a year before his last surgery because I was trying to make speghetti for a benefit dinner & I was crashing & just thought I was stressed & tired, now I know it was a crash, all to familiar.

Has your Dr found out the reason for your fatigue? Have you been dx'd with CFS? I hope you don't have it & the fatigue is treatable.

Hugs, Denise

Denise, sorry I didn't see your reply until just now.

I have not been formally diagnosed with CFS however, the integrative ARNP that I saw said that my extreme fatigue could be caused by the three viruses that I have. Someone just posted more about the viruses. Their name was Loopy Pig.

I was recently digagnosed with Sjogrens through a lip biopsy. I am back in plaquenil. It's helping the dryness but not fatigue and pain. The alternative ARNP gave me a script for an anti viral. I am going to start it as soon as I an done with this round of antibiotics I am taking for a UTI.

I just want some energy and to be out of pain.

through my readings I have seen where EBV has been found in a lot of people with Sjogrens. I am hoping it's not too late for the anti virals to help me with the fatigue. So far in the course of things, the only thing that's helped is prednisone and that shoots my blood sugar up. It did give me remission for almost a year though. I might have to go on it again.

Good luck to you Denise.
