Hello All,
I have had fibro for 15 yrs. I experience more fatigue than those without pain. Average sleep need is ten hrs a night. However, since last Dec., when I was rear ended, I have had numerous new pain issues and have cognitive issues. For instance, the first four months there would be no way I write a message like this! Now, I recall a lot of short and long term but still play word association. I am up for about 12 hrs, not able to do much due to knee and arm injuries, then sleep 12 hrs. I am going in for a complete cognitive test soon, but lately have started wondering if it's me giving up as there is isn't much I can do without quite a bit of increased pain or CFS finally creeping in.
I know so much about this but can't make this call for myself.
Any ideas?
Blessings

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble. I have had CFS/FM for 35 years and also have a considerable amount of pain and fatigue. I don't think it has anything to do with giving up or not trying hard enough however.

For me, both of these illnesses have been progressive. Now, I also have several other conditions to deal with. My sleep cycle is reversed and that adds to the problems.

I feel that if I can make it through each day I'm doing okay. I just do the best I can and try not to let discouragement get the best of me. Sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't. :)

I wish you the best and just wanted you to know that you're not alone in this struggle. I also sleep 12 hours and am up for about 8. Then take a 3 or 4 hour nap.

Hi memaw12
Thank you for your response. Yes, I believe it has progressed. I think my recent physical issues increased my inability to keep pushing; it just was not my plan. I pushed through university for ten yrs to acheive a masters degree. I made it and was looking for work, at 52, when I was rearended. I feel like I failed, despite knowing better. I have to just let go and apply for SSDI. I tried this six yrs ago and lost in appeal. I guess I have more hopes now but wanted to help those like myself. I find everything exhausting. There are a whole lot of items on my plate, including needing to move and divorce; all while having no money until my settlement and with knee surgery looming. It is an overwhelming time. Due to school and then the last year spent at home waiting for drs to figure out all my new issues, my friends are not in the picture right now.
I appreciate your post. I know it will be ok, just tired.
Blessings
