I have been diagnosed with Chronic Multifactoral Fatigue, which is CFS without the swollen lymphnodes, basically. The fatigue and post exertion malaise are killing me!! Does anyone have any supplements that help? I take Provigil, which sometimes helps, but not always, and they only give me about 4-5 hours. Ritalin/aderral/dexadrin do not help, I don't feel them even when I go beyond max dosage. My pain pills actually seem to perk me up when the provigil isn't enough, but I can't live on those all the time, and they make me crabby. Anyone have any herbals or supplements that increase energy? I am low income, and see many products on Amazon, all of which are expensive. I am willing to try anything, but I hate to waste my limited resources on things that don't work. Any ideas or direction would be appreciated!! Thank you!!!

A multi vitamin and extra Vitamin D help me, along with fresh juicing and lost of raw veggies, no junk food or sugar. Every one is different but it might be worth a try. Sorry to hear you are doing so poorly....

I have tried many different herbs n vitamins. I dont think there is a magic one for us that are suffering with this. Some do well with the B vitamins and others need potassium or magnesium. You just cant overdo with CFS or you will not feel good. Maybe figure out how much you can do and how much rest you need, too. This is a guessing game for me and I dont always get it right. Glad we have this site!!

Welcome to the forum, I am happy you finally got your dx. I have tried many things over the years, veggies & fruit, no sugar, high protein, no flour/gluten free. Lots of different supplements, magnesium, B-12, B complex, malic acid (which really made me crash). What I found? None of them made any change for me in this terrible illness but everyone is different. I do take Vit D3 due to having low D levels. I do use 85% dark chocolate which helps with brain fog, making me more clear headed. I used to use Lindz chocolate bars, eating about an ounceeach morning & night but now have switched to Hershey's Dark Chocolate powder or something comparable. I drink lattes everyday so I put the chocolate powder in there. I had to switch because I am on disability now and I was buying about 10 - 12 bars per month.

All i can say is you don't have to try everything at once, I gave each thing a good try to see if it was going to help or not, I sure wish something would have helped me but now I use pacing myself, resting & sleep all that I need to.

Keep posting & let us know how it is going for you. Nice to meet you, hugs, Denise

I am jealous jewelrylady, I used to love chocolate (still do) but it hates me. If I eat chocolate I get very sick, even the highest quality brands.

Back to the old saying - every one is different

Jkn913, oh how horrible, I am such a chocolataholic, I was so happy to find it actually helped me. Combined with my coffee addiction (for energy of course) I am on top of the world, lol. With this illness we have to find all the little joys we can to make it through each day. Take care, hugs, Denise

Its back up in the twenties and rising, but I feel no differnt:( Thank you all for the nice comments. Is there a Chronic fatige research foundation, like the breast cancer foundation? we need ribbons and fund raisers! This is no way to live!!!

Hi....
I.m a pretty new member too...

Funny you should ask this cos having just been diagnosed and I;m afraid, still in the 'denial' stage of grief... I.ve bought a book and i'm giving it a go. (not allowed to mention it I think???)
I just want it to go away! .https://www.healingwell.com/community/emoticons/smile.gif

Anyhow...started 4 days ago and I'm aching all over as if I've played football non stop for a week! Apparently...this is normal as my toxins are 'being released'.

So...and with great care...Cos it hasn't worked yet...

Here is the list. (oh...it costs a fortune too!, I note your limited budget)

Cheap version??? anti oxidant and a multi vitamins pill with minerals...all cheap from a supermarket. ie 1000mg vit c and the vits, minerals combined pills.

Add:
D ribose, acteyl L-carnitine, whey protein powder, probiotic pills, L glutamine, Gingko biloba, phosphatidyl Serine, N acetyl Cysteine, coenzyme Q10, fish oil supplements, milk thistle!!!!

Now...be very careful!.
Down this all in one go, and it will hurt.
Best to speak to doctor first too?

I'm adding them one at a time...
The book stays stop! if you feel bad etc...
and lots of other advice.

(i've only included some of the products too...but the others seem to overlap etc...)

I think if you start with multi vit and high vit C it will help.
oh...and my diet has also changed too.
I just can't write any more...sorry.

Sure you'll find the book online...its called the fusion model and
IS NOT APPROVED BY ALL DOCTORS.

Please don't buy them all and start taking them all at once without checking into it carefully.

The idea is...feed your body well, clear yourself of built up toxins...and make best use of the energy you have.

As I said...it's really hurting at the moment!!
Watch the space.

Good luck and take it easy
Andy

The ups and downs of coffee and I drink 2 cups organic daily...too much and adrenal fatigue will be worse and worse....

DRibose is a great helper for me....I don't deal with CFS per se, but have my lack of energy issues due to other chronic pain issues. Jam

PS: Another one I'm BACK on is Pantothenic Acid B5, taking usually 500mg two times a day...helps support adrenals.... I know a woman who wrote a booklet on higher dosing of this B vitamin, she worked at a health food store here for years and got really interested in Pantothenic Acid..... I'll look up higher dosing of B5 again....This was a long while ago when I heard about this and her research. Jam

From the Univ of Maryland on B5:

((It is rare for anyone to be deficient in vitamin B5. Symptoms of a vitamin B5 deficiency may include fatigue, insomnia, depression, irritability, vomiting, stomach pains, burning feet, and upper respiratory infections.)))

Funny ha ha, it says it's rare for anyone to be deficient and yet lists so many symptoms that I hear constantly from so many...

As everyone is mentioning, different things work for different people. I've dealt with it for about 18 years, and what finally worked for me was doing a sugar free, gluten free and dairy free diet. I also had a food allergy blood test done and realized that a lot of the foods I loved, like eggs and avocados, were actually bad foods for me and were contributing to my symptoms. My doctor also has me taking supplements, like D3, Multi with VitK, fish oil, magnesium malate, ADP, Pro Argi, Cats Claw etc etc! A lot of supplements! Some are reasonable, some are expensive. If I get them at doctors office she gives me bill for insurance. They will only cover something if blood work warrants it, like a vit D deficiency or something.

Hope you find something that helps!

a good friend deals with CFS/ME and horrible mailaise, and she gets sick after doing a little more than the normal life she leads....she has tried everything and still does and gets alot of help from phoenixrising folks....Mary tells me the latest thing she works with is branched amino acids and these seem to help her with faster recovery.
