What to treat first? Bacteria or viral infection?

Hi, Everyone -

I am new to the CFS/ME "club", and looking to more experienced folks for advice on which infection to treat first.

My CFS doctor tells me I have a heavy bacterial and viral load, but the two infections that are currently active are Chlamydia Pnuemonia (CP) and HHV-6.

My CFS doctor's first reaction to my test results was to go after the CP (bacteria) , but between visits, he flip-flopped and said we should go after the HHV-6 (viral) first.

So, now I am feeling unsure, and I don't have time to waste on a course of treatment that isn't going to yield results that I can feel, not just improvement in test results on paper.

I need to go after the biggest, baddest infection first, as my CFS doctor has advised me that it will take 12 to 18 months for me to recover from this catastrophic illness. By that time I will have exhausted both my state disability benefits and my life's savings, so I don't have any more time to lose to this devastating disease.

Any and all thoughts, opinions, and experiences would be more appreciated than you can imagine. Would you please take the time to write me back? I am all alone in this, and I am terrified of making the wrong decision.

Frankly, I am even more terrified that neither of these infections is what is making me so ill, but that's a subject for another posting. ;-)

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to this post.

My best regards,

I would make an appointment with a infectious disease doc and go from there! A second opinion is always a good thing.

I also tested positive HIGH for HHV6, and chlamydophilia pneumoniae. My ND 1st addressed the viral load(s), as I have 4 of the 9 human herpes viruses. During the U.V.B.I. treatment, I took NAC to zap the CP. It's been one year of treatment that which also includes heavy metal detoxification. The herbal antibiotics has zapped the Lyme bacteria, but the HHV 6 continues to totally destroy my immune system!

I've just finished reading the book, 'The virus Within', and am 100% there is no cure and that HHV 6 is the sole cause of CFS!

How many U.V.B. I. treatments did you need? Or how often?

From my experience as a pharmacist, you'll need to focus on the bacterial infection.

Generally speaking your body will take care of viral infections on it's own as long as it's being supported by a good diet and rest.

Hope this helps! :-)

"Your body will take care of the virals"??? Uh, how about NO....please go online on HHV6 official website to discover what SCIENTISTS have discovered about this deadly AIDS causing virus!!!YES, HHV 6 is what stirs up HIV to result in AIDS....HIV negative peeps end up with CFS! There's MANY studies to prove this=Dr Montoya, Dr' s Knox, and Carrigan to name a few.

Hhv6 must be first dealt with as its WHAT determines your bodies ability to fight infection.

HHV6 basically disables your immune system so when you become infected w/bacterium you cannot fight it-the bacterium!!!

Read the book, 'The virus within'- PLEASE read it!
