Hi, I'm 29 and have had CFS badly for 10 years now.

Ive researched the disease a lot, and as I sit here in agonizing pain and fatigue, just trying to keep my eyes open to write this, I wonder - is there seriously no one who has figured this thing out?

I've had enough of not working, wanting to give and not being able to, and just plain being miserable. I've tried many psychological based approaches, numerous diets, antibiotics for Lyme disease, medical doctors, etc. What am I missing here?

I'm also wondering, what percentage of you guys who have CFS experience severe anxiety with it? I notice that as being a main symptom, not sure which came first.

Any help appreciated, many thanks and love to you all

EricS,

I am sorry you are having such a difficult time. I can't speak for any one else, but for me, the biggest success I have had has been through diet. If I really stick to it, I do pretty will. But if I cheat, even a little, I pay. My set backs can be a few hours or days, depending on what I have eaten. They can be mild, like leg cramps, or severe where I am laid out flat.

For me, I can eat meats, fish, vegetables (but I am staying away from tubers right now) and fruit. I do all some cheese, salad dressing, nuts, nut butters and stuff like that. I can tolerate corn, but try to stay away from most grains including rice. No junk foods, potato chips cause me to flare and no sugar.

If I do that, I do pretty well. I also take a probiotic, vit D and a CoQ10. My hormones are a mess and multi vitamins, noni juice and other supplements give me hot flashes (real bad) and I am up all night. I also have to be careful of my exertion level, stress level and sleep.

I am able to work and do the bare minimum of chores, but I am up off the couch and do have part of my life back. I do worry about getting sicker all the time but keep plugging forward. When I get lax on my diet, I go down hill fast. It is hard to be so strict with the foods, but it is better than being real sick.

As for the anxiety, yes I have that, especially with the hot flashes. My adrenals are toast.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the blog reference, i will check that out

Thank you as well Jkn, I know what you mean about diet. I am vegetarian and about half raw foodist at this point also eliminating dairy, gluten. I do notice i feel best when eating very very clean, but its hard to have any social life and be a complete vegan or anything like that, so i do the best i can.

This is a very bizarre disease, very puzzling. I'm thinking that it stems from emotional trauma I'm my case as i think I've tried everything else, but i could be wrong. Almost likr subconscious memories and pain that manifest physically or something. Wish we had more answers
