nono  SHHH !! You'll wake the hibernating sloths.... tongue

Maybe it's just because there is such a strong seasonal component to my health, but I'm inclined to think that most CFS sufferers are likely to hit the same "winter brick wall" of lack of oomph as I do.

This year I hoped I might avoid it...had just started on a new organic diet, was much healthier than earlier in the summer - although that's not saying much - then at the end of October I went  away on a fortnight's holiday to Sri Lanka and Thailand, ending up in the Kho Samui in the South. Gorgeous sunshine, lovely fresh organic food, no gluten anywhere in sight...maybe it was the insecticides that they sprayed us with on the aircraft, maybe it was the tired old food the supermarkets sell here, or just the fact that when I came home I was switching the lights on at midday, but when I came home it was as if my body just lapsed into instant biochemical despair ! All the benefits of those years of getting acclimatised to the Scottish weather, being able to work outside in all conditions with nary a thought...gone. I spend all my time with the heating on, and just can't get back to feeling fit.

tongue  Oh well, if it's not weather for gardening then it looks like it's the bookworming/cybersurfing season.... anyone read any good books recently ?

Hi Donkey and welcome. I have multiple health issues too. I was diagnosed with CFS in 1991, but after several years my symptoms got better and I was able to live a fairly normal life although I got tired more easily than most people. Then about 2 1/2 years ago I got really sick and I'm now being treated for lupus. I spend a lot of time on the lupus forum and I'm a co-moderator for that forum, but I decided to try to start posting here more often. It is a pretty quiet forum compared to a lot of the other forums here, but it seems like there are a few members here who can keep things going and hopefully we'll get more activity on this forum.

I am a mom too. I have a 4yr old girl and an 8 yr old boy. At first I had a lot of guilt that I couldn't do a lot with my kids anymore, but over time I have been finding different ways to be with my kids such as snuggling up and reading a book or watching a movie, or coloring together.

I can also relate to being in pain everyday. Even with meds I am never pain free and a lot of times the pain is pretty severe, not to mention the fatigue. Has your doc got you on any meds?

I'm glad you joined. I'm sure you saw that there is also a FMS forum here too.

Take care

smurf  Hi there, thank you for your reply and yes i too am on pain meds. wich do not leave me pain free either.  It is hard to get over the guilt & saddness of not being able to have the energy to do things like I use to with my kids.  Yes i agree with you on finding new ways or other ways to be with them and easier to do with the young ones as they are still little but my 21 & 19 are more busy and they understand but I just miss being me.

Thankyou for welcoming me here and yes i did see the FM site too, its great to be able to go from one to another to get support.  Sorry you also have Lupus. sad    But your too in the right place reaching out for support. hugs

Hi Donkey and Welcome aboard!!!!
I too have FM, and am just now getting help with it after 6 years of trying to get a new doctor.
I am going on 22 this month, and have no children..so I commend those parents out there that can deal with this disease and still manage their children.
Anyways just wanted to welcome you :)
Later Dayz
