I went to the doctor a week ago after having extreme fatigue and headaches for about 2 weeks. He sent me for blood work. Now a week later I have almost all the results (missing CMV still), and I feel worse. I not only am still tired all the time despite sleeping, but now I have a sore throat cough and dizziness. I went to the doctor again today (a week after blood work) and he said nothing about the test results (if good or bad) he just gave me antibiotics for the cough. So I have no idea if I have no idea if I have mono or not. I will post my results below. I should note that I have never had mono before in my life ( that I know of at least) thanks for any help

EBV VCA IgM- Negative <10.0
EBV VCA_IgG- Positive 108
EBV IgG-EBNA- 528 Positive

Ranges-
EBV VCA IgM
POSITIVE: >=40
BORDERLINE: 20-40
NEGATIVE: 0-20

EBV VCA_IgG
POSITIVE: >=20
NEGATIVE: 0-20

EBV IgG-EBNA
POSITIVE: >=20
BORDERLINE: 5-20
NEGATIVE: 0-5

This webpage might help you see how the results are interpreted: /labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/ebv/tab/test/

"If the VCA-IgM is negative but VCA-IgG and an EBNA antibody are positive, then it is likely that the person tested had a previous EBV infection."

EBV can encapsulate and reactivate at a later date. I must say, however, that for your doctor to prescribe an antibiotic is very poor form. EBV is a virus, not a bacterial infection, and it doesn't even (usually) respond that well to antiviral drugs, either.

So, he just handed you the results and didn't explain them to you? I'd look for a new doctor.
