Anyone here taking Trazodone? I've been taking it for over 15 years for sleep, 300 mg every night.

I've been having intermittent vertigo issues for the last couple of years, with the episodes becoming more frequent. ENT had a number of ear tests scheduled for tomorrow. (ABR, ECochG, and VNG).

Now he's saying the Trazodone will interfere with the testing, and I have to come off of it for 48 hours. Which means no sleep for at least 2 days, which at minimum will ruin me for the next week, and worst case will kick off a Lupus flare.

So, if anyone is taking Trazodone for sleep -- any signs of vertigo? Willing to discuss this situation with me? Frustrated here!

Hi, I am sorry you are having such a bad time. I don't think I could get too much sleep without my Trazadone. I think I have been taking it about the same amount of time as you have, I also take Tizanadine which helps me to go to sleep. If I am going to sleep for just a few hours I can take a Tizanadine & sleep but I can't stay asleep & I don't want to get up with a groggy hungover feeling. If I sleep through the night I am fine in that regard. As far as vertigo, I have had it for a long time with my CFS, I don't think it has anything to do with the Trazadone. My vertigo comes & goes, I may have it one day & then not again for a few months. I stay away from things that can bring it on, I stand slowly or I will get dizzy, I am not someone who could stand on the edge of a cliff & look up or down, I would fall. I can't climb a ladder, I stay off of anything that will raise me up. I get up from bed slowly & sit on the side of the bed for a while. Anyway, I don't have the vertigo much. But I don't think I have a really bad case of it. I hope you have found something out by now, I hope you will keep u posted. Hugs, Denise

Hello, I don’t know much about Trazadone. I was prescribed it to help me sleep. I seemed to have a reverse effect to this medication, I would stay awake for hours and when I did finally go to sleep,it would trigger my anxiety and I would wake up in a severe panic attack. I had to stop taking it, I guess everyone is different but as long as you have been taking it, it seems weird imvertigo would start recently. Has there been any other changes in medications or health, life? May be something new thT you would not think could cause it? I hope all goes well!

I've taken trazadone and also tizanidine. Trazdone for sleeping and tizanidine for pain. I haven't had a problem with trazadone but we are all so different. My Dr. also layers my meds so if I need a blood pressure pill he gives me one to take at night that sleepiness is a side effect from. There are several and it has worked the best that I've tried although still not wonderful. I quit taking as much tizanidine (the daily doses) because I'm stubborn. I didn't have much of a problem taking it before but it really makes me sleepy now.

Oh, and yes I do have vertigo but I think I had it before.

So, basically I'm saying I don't know but that I do hope you feel better soon.
