New to site.  I've been ill for almost a year now and now my life is very much a challenge to complete necessary daily tasks as a mother of two.  I am only 35 and feel 80.

Been seing a primary doc forever about ongoing right rib cage pain, abnormally enlarged (and tender) gland on right side of neck that has been that way for months, extreme fatigue regardless of what I do or how much I sleep.  My primary doc ordered a rheumatoid factor blood test that showed my rheumatoid factor was elevated so she sent me to a rheumatologists who looked at the bloodwork and asked me a few questions and said "you don't have rheumatoid arthritis".  I asked him about the fatigue and neck gland and he said you probably have chronic fatigue syndrome.

What I have read about this condition hardly mentions the lymph node problems or that it would cause you to have elevated rheumatoid factor - just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their lymph nodes in the neck (mine is just right side) and if anyone else has elevated rhuematoid factor without having rheumatoid arthritis.

I am so sick of feeling sick and really are starting to wonder if these docs are missing something more serious.  I have never been tested for mono or EBV...should I get these tests???

Any similar symptoms you guys can share will help me be convinced I do have CFS and help me deal with this disabling crappy sickness

Trying to keep good spirits :-) !

My own personal opinion is that if you do have cfs, you also have something else going on too. People with cfs usually do not have anything abnormal show up in their bloodwork except those that have the epstein barr virus. Your elevated rheumatoid factor should be taken seriously. You might want to post your symptoms on the arthritis forum and see what they think. I know from my own personal experience that it can sometimes take a while to find a good rheumatologist who will really listen. Take care
