My primary care physician suggested that I take 2 - 400 mcg of folic acid a day for the sores in my mouth.  It works for me, I know when I run out and miss a few days, the sores start back up but once I am back on them they clear right up.  My dentist suggested B-12 for the sores in the corner of my mouth, like cold sores.  He said it is a B12 deficiency, it works for me.

Has anyone ever actually tested your blood for B12 deficiency? What you say about them coming and going depending on if you take your pills doesn't quite make since because your liver stores several years worth of B12. Thus, missing a pill from time to time shouldn't do anything. B12 and folate deficieny are something that simple blood tests can diagnose and there's no reason not to do them. Other causes of mouth ulcers are connective tissue diseases (ie Lupus, Sjogren's, etc) that you may want to be tested for if you haven't already. Putting the mouth ulcers together with CFS symptoms (which I assume you have since you're posting here) suggests that you might want to consider visiting a rheumatologist to put this all together.

I have had CFS for 10 years, my doctor for CFS is one of the top CFS doctors in the world so I have no doubt in the diagnoses. I have been on Prevacid for years for acid reflux. That drug interfers with the absorption of B12. All I know is it works for me, and like I know, what works for one person with CFS does not always work for another.

You may want to look into Celiac Disease. Gluten can cause mouth ulcers and depletion of B12.
