Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue early 2004 which resulted from Glandular Fever (mono), Since I have not been the same, I went through 8 months of pain and had a whole bunch of weird symptoms ( I pretty much didnt leave the house for this whole time) I eventually got my act together and the symptoms slightly subsided with a small dose of venlafaxine.  I weened myseld off this as I really did not want to have to take any sort of druge, which may do more harm than good..

I was then referred to a Chinese Herbalist, which was defenatley something that helped me greatly.  I drank these (very horrible tasting) herbs for about 7 weeks. Of late I havent been feeling the best and have decided to get back on the herbs, and I must say they have been the best thing for me...

If you are thinking of going on these herbs, make sure you find one of the better herbalists in your area (Im in Western Australia - So im not sure if telling you the best here will be of benefit as I think most on here are from The States).

Its worth a try!!!!

Anthing is to make you feel better - even if its a slight difference...it will help!!

Good luck :)

You both bring up the most important thing when seeking alternative/homeopathic treatments - you have to make sure the ppractioner is well trained and qualified.  You really have to do your homework.  I know someone who is finishing up several years of schooling for Chinese medicine, so I know that he is legitimate and actually has a degree.  I may actually go see him after he gets into practice and just see what he has to say.  My case is complicated by lupus and all the meds I take to control it, but I'd be interested to see if there are things like tea and accupuncture that I can use in conjunction with my current treatment.

Yep my Herbalist is a fully qualified medical doctor (who has done a full medical degree) who has decided to specialise in Chinese Herbs. My herbalist is renowned here in Perth (Australia) as the best. I have also seen his certs and he is definatley a proper herbalist, there isnt many around like this guy, hes the best!

even not well trained herbalists could produce certificates, anyone can have a certificate done for another.

What one needs to do to make sure their training is recognised by the organisiations to do with this... eg have they actually done a government accrediated course to do with this? (such courses in Australia are usually done over 4 yrs.. some colleges used to thou run them over 3)..and hence been accepted into well known herbalist associations eg ANTA (australia natural therapist assoc.)

I have used herbal medicine at times and also homopathy to help my CFS. It was due to homopathy treatment by a fully trained homoepath, that I got rid of my need to drink almost constantly (it sucked.. i was then having to get up so many times during night to go to toilet).
