Hi,

I have had fatigue for 10 years now.  I just had a virus that inflammed my lymph nodes and spleen and the Dr. told me I had Epstein Barr in my system but it was from a long time ago and was not active. She said it must be just another virus in my system causing the inflammation.  I always feel weak, dizzy, fatigued and unable to concentrate.  It is much worse since this last virus and seems to always be worse when I'm stressed. I'm starting to miss alot of work and don't know what to tell my boss anymore.  I have been diagnosed previously as having Chronic Fatigue but I don't know if EBV has to be active to have Chronic Fatigue?  Any advice?

Ocean, I don't believe that your EBV has to be active to have CFS. A lot of us with cfs have had EBV before at some time. I found that once I had ebv, I was very succeptible to catching everything. You ebv may have been what started this whole thing even though it is not active now. As far as work goes, your doctor may have to write something up for your boss - that should help against any possible disciplinary action. The thing that really stinks about CFS is that there really isn't a lot on the line of treatment and it's a lot of trial and error to see what might work. Take care and keep us updated on how you are doing.

Hi there...I'm 45 yrs old now; dx'd w/ fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue when I was 39 (almost 40)...unable to work since then :( ...

Insomnia and chronic back pain preceded the chronic fatigue, starting when I was about 37 yrs old.

I've found the replies to this post very interesting.

I also had EBV when I was in my early 20s; also a significant car accident (twisting spinal injury & whip lash) when I was 29.

Take good care, everyone.

Dear breezee...

Oh, did I mention brain fog?!

Well, I posted in the wrong spot -- saw "what preceded fatigue" and then "EBV" and I got mixed up (just up and out of bed after several days of grotesque fatigue and fever)...

Oh well, perhaps it will make sense anyway...
