I am being switched from Lexapro and Elavil to only Prozac. Any thoughts on that?
Thank you.

Hi Twinmom,
I'm not familiar with Lexapro. I mean I've heard of it, but haven't tried it or read or learned details. I am familiar with Elavil. But I don't know why you were being prescribed both, or why your Dr is making the change. Normally, one does not take 2 antidepressants at once. In severe depression, however, it is done. Without any other info, I would have to say that your Dr thinks you will benefit more from Prozac alone, than the other 2 together. Maybe you discussed you symptoms and/or side effects, and your Dr made a decision based on that discussion. That's how antidepressants are prescribed, based on what the patient reports. Maybe someone who knows more about those meds will reply soon. Good luck! Have you had that 2nd opinion yet?
