How is your pain today? Many of us use cold or heat to help relieve the pain. Tell me, what works the best for you and your pain?

For me the choice is always heat. Cold has never helped my muscles or my pain, no matter if we are talking muscle injury or my daily fibro pain. A good hot bath generally helps the latter and heat packs for muscle pains.

Tell us, come on!!

Gentle hugs for your pain and may you have a lpd.

I use ice. I have terrible headaches on a daily basis due to a tmj disorder. Putting ice to my head is what helps me the most!!

I use both. Heat for my pelvic problems and ice and heat for my neck. I also use some roll on stuff that is like icyhot that lasts for hours that helps a lot too.

Today my pain is managable. My neck is killing me and my other pain is being nice today.

In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children. The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted. The result is unruly children and childish adults. ~Thomas Szasz

Today has been a horrible day for me, ugh. I wish I hadn't had to get out of bed this morning. The only highlight of my day was acupuncture. That seems to be what works the best for me lately. However, it is somewhat unpredictable. Sometimes it helps me for a couple of hours (which was unfortunately the case today, although I'll take any relief I can get), and sometimes it helps for a day or two. Ice tends to make me worse, and heat, while it's nice, doesn't help all that much, so I have to rely on alternatives like acupuncture. The eye is a tricky thing to treat.

Ice almost always helps me more. I have nerve pain & some arthritic pain so usually the heat just makes things worse. Plus I just had an epidural last week (that didn't go so well) & I always ice after those even though I like heat better in general. I just bundle up under bunches of warm covers & put the ice just where it hurts. :)

Right now nothing is helping, so hopefully someone else is having a good pain-free day to balance things out in the world. :) I'd like to think so anyways.

wishing you all good sleep & sweet dreams,

My pain's a little higher tonight than normal. I think I'm feeling the "ice" in the chill outside, so I've been on heating pads - sitting on them, rapped around my neck, etc. Frances' post made me laugh because sometimes I've got ice on one part of my body and heat on another and I wonder if I confuse my poor nervous system! LOL
