Hello all just wanted to let you all know what was goin on had my appointment with my ortho today and got the results from my mri and emg test.
Everything came back neg and this has my ortho and pmd other wise stumped.
Both the ortho and pmd  told me that they dont know what the prob is and he is not comfortable with telling me that is is just soft tissue damage because of the pain I keep explaining and the exact places of the pain and the numbness and weekness in my legs and how my left leg just buckle does not coralate with soft tissue damage...sighsssss...agrrrrr im so frustrated on one hand am glad that nothing showed up but on the other I want to know what is the matter with my lower back and legs.
I was a bit upset in the office because im so sick of this and I hate not knowing what the prob is.  I almost felt llike the doc is looking at me like im faking and I told him today that I was not faking and that I am in a extreme amount of pain all the time.  To his credit he did tell me he didnt think that I was because I have a legit condition in my neck with the herenatied disc that is causeing me probs as well.  He also said that if I was looking for a huge settlement from my acc that I would be using the probs with my neck and not keep going on about probs with my back that dont show anything.  Which I was glad of at least he said that and it made me feel a bit better that he was taking me seriously.
I am so sick of going to all these docs.  Everytime I turn around im off to a diff doc.
My pain is in my lower back right above my butt  cheek goes straight across and goes down the crack of my but and right into the center there is this spot that hurt like heck and feels hard and is painful to touch, some times the pain even goes into by bits for lack of a better word on here redface . I also have pressure on my rectum at times that feels like a numb pain that hurts. A bone on bone feeling .  I also have pain that goes down the left side of my but cheek down the back of my thigh and I have numbness and tingleing in both feet and sometimes my calfs.  My left leg buckel at times or just goes dead and I dont even realize it.
The reason why I decieded to post the pain is that I am hoping that maybe someone on here has the same or some of the same probs and might be able to help me with what they docs have said is the matter with them.
Also I was reading up on the emg and nerve conduction test and they said that you shouldnt smoke or drink caffene 3 hrs proir to test or take meds 6 hrs prior to test no one told me this and I had all.  Would that casue my test to come out different?
I just want to know what the prob is so that I can find a way to help myself or at the least manage it.  How can you manange something that you dont know what it is?
Any adivice would be grateful
Thanks so much

I have some of the same symptoms, but I'm so tired I can't bring myself to write much more tonight. But tests don't always show everything. My EMG's were all negative, too. That just shows certain type of nerve damage (I think) but it doesn't mean a nerve isn't being compressed. Have you seen a neruologist or neurosurgeon? Sometimes, though, even when they can pinpoint things (my MRI showed lots of things, I had a double lumbar fusion, and still have leg pain and numbness in both feet) it doens't mean the problem can be solved. Or sometimes it shows lots of possibilities. Scar tissue, from what I know, can press on nerves, and that's all you need to have happen to cause a lot of your symptoms.

I also wonder - did you have an injury to your tailbone? That may not show up on an MRI. But I've heard an injury to the tailbone can be very painful and take a long time to heal. Also, has anyone checked your SI (sacro-iliac) joint? Mine keeps going out and causes all my symptoms to double. I've been in physical therapy for it, do exercises, wear a belt, etc, etc, but since my surgery a year ago it won't stay in place.

Ahhhhhhhhh........it's all so exhausting, isn't it?

There is a possiblity you may have sacroiliitis. I have it from Crohn's. Mine is not degenerative, so it really can't be seen or treated. The pain is in the middle of the butt cheek. This is where the sacro. is. The pain can get to the point where it causes nausea to even move your foot, let alone your leg. The pain shoots down the leg, sometimes the back of the leg, sometimes the side. It goes all the way to the foot. There have been times when I have felt extreme shots of pain in different areas of the calf. Kind of like a blood clot.

This is only a suggestion. I know how frustrating it is to not have answers. I do hope you get some soon.

Don't give up, It's not all in your head either!
I went through the stuff you went through too, my first mri showed inflammation,
Then had a discogram after 4 sets of injections and 2 rhizotomies, right after the discogram
they wheeled me down to have a contrast ct scan of lower spine, the Doctor
called me sounding surprized, as the contrast ct showed spinal stenosis, disc buldges.
I do remember yelling out once during the discogram, but he said it was negative.
Not everything shows up on a mri, don't get discouraged....
Keep on your Doctor, you'll get your answers someday, just don't let them shove you away.
Til then good luck and you'll probably need more testing, ask for a contrast ct or mri...
Lots of soft hugz...
Your not alone....
