In the United States today, there is a pervasive tendency to treat children as adults, and adults as children. The options of children are thus steadily expanded, while those of adults are progressively constricted. The result is unruly children and childish adults. ~Thomas Szasz

Whine away! What is it about this month? Everybody running out of meds, can't get meds, snowed in, out of money, no docs. What is this world coming to? ;)

I do feel terrible for you. Others just can't understand what it's like to be in pain all the time with no relief in site. I try not to wish for people to understand b/c I think the only real teacher is experience and I wouldn't wish that on anybody, but if there is any other way for your hubby to be more compassionate that's what I will pray for.

Only 2 days to go. Keep taking it a moment at a time. I'm seeing my PM on Tuesday as well -- RF procedure. Hopefully that will help my pain & your PM will get you some meds to help with yours. Then we can both celebrate together. turn

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling crummy right now. Was your prescription too few days to make it to this appointment? When you see him this time, be sure he schedules your follow-up appointment in time to get your prescription refilled. Talk to him about it, too. If you are past the end of your prescription before your appointment, the doses don't remain as stable in your system. Usually doctors schedule the appointments to keep that from happening, but sometimes they aren't aware of how the front office is handling the schedule.

In the mean time, try lots of heating pads and hot baths. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm not doing much posting but you sure know you'v got my sympathy! I'm just doing everything I can - lots of heat packs, hot shower soon, stretching the meds I do have plus using the others and OTC, etc., etc., etc. Whatever takes the edge off.

Frances - I do think there was something about this month. Even though I tried to plan for the holidays what I didn't take into account was that day of the week that they fell on. I thought my doc's office would be back open Jan. 2 but that was a Friday - hence, long weekend. And the nurse that helps me isn't in on Mondays. Of course, everything would have been ok for me had the hospital not changed the insurance policy. I have my script. Just nowhere to fill it uniless I want to pay money I don't have.

No one gets this stuff but us. No one. And Kara I know you're having insurance problems, too. Something very, very wrong here, but my wrists hurt so enough typing! Just know I'm with you Kara!

And good luck with the RF, Frances.

Hi Kara,

Vent all you want, we are here for you. I'm sorry that your husband doesn't understand. No one in my family really seems to understand my pain either. They have sympathy, but there is only so much that they can comprehend without going through it & often get tried and frustrated with hearing me complain and never seeing any improvement. Like Palady said, I don't think anyone understands pain or how greatly it can effect one's life without feeling it themselves.

Sending you lots of hugs! Hang in there (I know, that is so much easier said than done). I am praying for you & that your PM will understand what a difference the meds the ER put you on made with you pain, sleep, & quality of life, and keep you on them!

If you have a heated blanket, you might want to put that one your bed as well -- kind of like an entire body heating pad. I used to sleep with one, but then my mother scarred me about how bad they can be for your body if you use them all the time & how you have to be careful not the leave them on, etc. I just put mine on my bed again last night. I wasn't using it for any pain, but just because I have been freezing for weeks, as I lost about 20 lbs because of not eating from always feeling sick from pain & the fact that I wasn't overweight to begin with, but when I had it on last night, I was thinking that it might help a little with pain just to have gentle heat on your body all night.

How I wish I could take at least half of your pain away....I have my meds so I could handle it... Some Primary Care Doctors are at least semi-educated about Chronic Pain and Pain Management, but not nearly enough of them.
When I was young,12 yrs. old, my Dr. wouldn't hesitate to write me scripts of cough med. with hydrocodone in it...I used to get chronic bronchitis at least 7 X year.  All I, yes 12 yr. old me, had to do was call his nurse and she would call it in.  But when I started having back trouble at 18/19 he suddenly had a problem with narcotics..Go figure?
I am one of the lucky ones that found a few good Pain Docs...and I am forever grateful for that.  I wish Primary's would get the education they need to really treat the patients that are in pain...without being terrified of tarnishing their reputation within the community of Dr.'s.
I hope today and tonight goes by like the wind......whoosh>>>>>>>>

Kara if only Tuesday would hurry and get here. Feel so bad for you that your PCP would not even write enough meds till you see pain dr. Why these drs do some of the things they do is beyond me. Hugs, Susie

I'm stuck too, eventhough I have 2 weeks of pills left over from this last months (not quite sure how that happened) I still have to go to my monthly dr. appts and it's flooding really bad here where I am so I dont know if the roads will be clear by this friday to make my hour and half trip. Actually after this appointment the doctor said I would only have to come every 2 months which is great, but I have to make it to this one. I know last night the news said the water was barely starting to go down, but I dont think their's going to be a miracle by this friday. Well I guess if worse comes to worse I still have alot of pills saved up. Actually I think the reason I have so many left over is because I've been so sick, first with bronchitatis and now I have strep throat. Thats another thing, if I can drive to my appointment I dont think I can cause I'm too sick to drive. Everytime I try to do something I feel dizzy and have body aches from my fever, I guess I better talk to my father tonight incase I end up needing a ride. I hope everyone gets what they need eventhough it seems like the weather and oher stuff seems to be blocking our way.

I have Migraines, Pancreatic Divisum, Severe lower back pain, Fibromyalgia, Asthma from Chronic Bronchitis
Meds: Suboxone 8mg 3xday, Cymbalta 60mg @ night,
Zanaflex 2-4 mg @ night as needed, Treximet as needed,
Ventolin Albuterol Inhaler as needed which seems to be everyday.
Been on Diability since I was 22 for Migraines and chronic Pancreatitas(started the processes when I was 19, I'm 25 now) but am working to get off of it ASAP,I want to be a nurse and work at a Impatient rehab with people with addictions of all kinds

Kara ~

I am sorry to hear about your situation. OMG!

So sorry.

My son doesn't understand my pain AT ALL. It makes me not like him.
That's awful, I guess. A lot of men are not high in empathy - most men.

Have you been to the ER? Do you stay in contact with your doctor. I believe
that doctors are required by law to help their patients when they are in pain.

If not, I'm gonna make the law!!

Take Care & talk later,
