Hey all...It's been a while since I posted. I've been in such bad pain, I haven't felt much like being on the computer lately. Funny thing is, I'm on stronger meds (Oxycontin 80 mg 3 times daily & Percocet 10 mg 4 times daily) than ever, but the pain is real bad and not getting better. We already tried morphine Controlled release with no relief. I've tried Fentanyl patch a few times, but can't get it to stay on my skin. My doctor is ready to try radio frequency, but I'm a little bit nervous about it, since I haven't really heard that much about it yet. My Aunt had it, but it's too soon to know about the results. For those who have had radio frequency, can you tell me the pros and cons? Did it help? How much did it help? Any negative reactions, or results? Can it affect movement, strength, etc? What is the recovery like, in time and pain? Any info would be great. I'm hoping everyone is doing a little better since the last time I posted, but I'm sure that's not probable. I hope you're not in too much pain tonight. Take care...byeeeeeeeeee

Hi Eric,

Sorry to hear you are doing so bad. I had the RF done on my neck and back. It was really no big deal. You stop and think about it, look at the pain you are in now with no relief, its worth giving giving it a try. My dr did them under very light sedation. I can only say, that he did hit one spot on my back that got my attention and I got his attention. Would I do it again, you bet. For the first time in 15 years my neck pain is totally gone. I have had every thing done short of surgery on my neck & nothing worked. I had horrbile neck pain and it felt like I had soft balls under each shoulder blade. In one treatment he got rid of a pain no one could.

As for my back, I got about 9 months of relief, the pain never went totally away but it was alot more bearable. There really was no recovery except the first 24 hours. I went home and just relaxed. I think I may have felt a little achey for a day or two, but for me the pain relief started happening in 4 days. I have heard others state it took them longer. So, we are back to the old, everyone is different on how they will respond and react.

I am not sure what you mean by it affecting movement or strength, so I really can't answer that one......Susie
