Sanibel, the statistics they are using are convoluted. In all of the studies to date about
chronic pain patients becoming addicted to their meds, it is a very low number. Let a person with some notoriety overdose on drugs & lets say Fentanyl was one of the meds involved, they press jumps all over this along with the politicians. They never for a moment consider the drugs were obtained illegally & they do not care.
The war on street drugs has been ongoing for decades. That is a war they will never win & they know it. There are too many people out there with the knowledge to produce street drugs because of the profit involved. They know how to make any type of drug that is in demand.

I would not want to be a 30 something year old person today needing any narcotics to keep functioning. The environment today in treatment of chronic pain is going to get much worse, more limited & restrictive than it is right now. I do believe people that have been cut off of their medications have & will obtain drugs off the street, that will cause an even larger epidemic. Heroine is cheap compared to most prescript
Again, this original post is about
pharmaceutical companies the FDA went after for producing substandard generic medications.
