I wish you and your uncle the very best.

I hope you can somehow take it easy during this very difficult time. Easier said than
done, I guess.

Be sure and let us know what the pain doctor has to say. I hope you're taking
medication that helps. I'm not, but I think I'll be getting a pain pump. Maybe that
will hellp.

I am sorry to hear that about your uncle, colon cancer is a tough one! Hospice is a great organazaiton, and I am sure your uncle will be getting the best possible care! You won't find a better bunch of dedicated caring compassionate people anywhere, so rest assured he will be getting excellent care!
I will say a prayer for him and for you, I do know how tragic this news can be!

Take care of yourself and I hope your appointment with your Pain Doctor goes well!

Dear Kara:

I haven't had the pleasure of "meeting" you yet, but I will be thinking about you and your family, and I pray that you can remain strong during this difficult time and that you & your Uncle will be as pain free as possible. Spend as much time as you can together!

I too am so very sorry. Be grateful to have Hospice there right away. My father died at home from prostate cancer and it was Hospice that enabled us to keep him at home and not is a cold and sterile hospital setting. He was so much more serene with us there.

Please know that hospice is there to keep him comfortable and if you need anything they get it and FAST! I mean immediately! The one thing I learned at that time is not to be afraid to treat my father's pain. My brother kept saying dad would get addicted. Well DUH! The man only had a couple of weeks to live and he's worrying about addiction? Finally I took over and made sure dad was as comfortable as possible. The nurses that come out will help you with his pain control. Once someone reaches hospice care comfort and compassion is all that matters.

Prayers for you and your family!

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Hospice is absolutely fantastic.  My husband of 43 yrs died from cancer.  I do not think I could have survived it without Hospice.

Try to relax as much as possible - I know that is very difficult but it will help with your pain.  Worry today about what you can do something about.  If you can't do anything about it today put it in a worry jar and forget about it until tomorrow.  Then take it out again and look at it and apply the same test.  It really helps.

You, your uncle, and your family will be in my thoughts & prayers. I am so sorry that you both have to go through this! Hopefully hospice will be able to help make his final days and weeks as happy and comfortable as possible! Cherish every moment you have with him while you can, and try not to think too much about tomorrow.
