I have had a spinal cord stimulator since 1996 and I have had the battery changed once in 1993. The one I have is made by Medtronic.  Does any one  have one and if so how do you like it?

Miss Kitty,
Hi. I don't have one but a couple of people here do. You may want to do a search on Healing Well for older threads. I think we've had some threads that have been rather detailed on things on the stimulator and the pump.

Others will probably chime in, but there is info. to be found on the forum. Just type it in the search box.

Hello Miss Kitty:

I have had a spinal cord stimulator for approximately 9 years or so, and I have an intrathecal pump as well. Because my pain level is so high, I require all of the settings on the SCS to be on as high as they go to get any relief, therefore, my internal battery has to be changed much more often than normal. I have gone through a battery in as little as two months, and have never had one last more than a year. I am recovering from a battery replacement surgery right now that I had done two week agol

I have had many issues such as leads breaking or slipping out of place, severe infections, etc. which have also required additional surgeries, but despite all that has happened, I do not think that I could function without it. I have had round leads, flat leads, surgical leads, chargeable, and rechargeable batteries and have opinions about what works best for me and why, so if you have any particular questions, I would be more than willing to answer them. Feel free to post me anytime you would like.

Hi Ms. Kitty:

I just got a Medtronic Restore Ultra stimulator implanted on 1/16. So far, I am happy with it and do not regret my decision to have it implanted...although, it does NOT get rid of all of the pain. However, I knew that would be the case before I had it implanted.

Are you happy with your implant?
