I've enjoyed finding stuff for our new place. Way too much fun.

I've taken my methadone as prescribed.

I itch. I'm miserable. The itching goes all the way down my spine.

It's worse than pain. I can't concentrate enough to write a short note to a friend.

sad What causes itching?

PS (two days later)

I believe I've corrected the above. I accidentally put a line through all the text. rolleyes

I can read it Pamela
Are you allergic to to anything? Are you using a different or new laundry detergent? Anything new or different that you are around? Sounds like you might be having a allergic reaction to something! If you start developing hives or a rash make sure you see a doctor! Other wise try flushing or rinsing the area that itches with cool or tepid water. Heat rash can also cause itching.

Good Luck to You

Could you maybe be allergic to dust? I'm severely allergic & I know my allergies always act up when I'm packing & unpacking (or cleaning, ick!). Just a thought. Maybe go get some testing done with an allergist.

feel better,

Try some benadryl and see if the itching eases up. It might be something in the fillers for the methadone that is causing it, or the methadone itself. Have you only started itching since you started it?

Oh man! I understand b/c I have really bad reactions--often! So, yes-can you take some Benedryl? Or maybe put some Benedryl creme on your skin?

That's awful. I hope that it gets better!

I "kinda" laughed when I read my post. I look .....hmmmmmm.... Crazy?

The itching is better. However It's still there. I was trying to think of what
Sandi & Flower suggested - Benadryl. It's 2:30 AM, and I will be very careful
with my medications tonight. NO AMBIEN for me. I will most cerainly buy
the Benadryl tomorrow morning if I'm not feeling better.

Frances, Aha, maybe I'm alergic to cleaning and packing! Maybe I should
hire someone for the job? I've showered twice, White Beard. Once with
soap and once without. Once warm - Once cool.

I love this experience of moving and have gotten carried away. I have
to be careful. If I'm not careful our moving company will have to bring
their grand piano mover and tote me out.

When I had the preschool, I knew to be really careful if a child had a rash.
I don't have a rash at all.

Whoa ... I can't even talk about it. If I think about the itch, I can double
it.

Pamela, sorry to hear about your itching. It can be very aggravating. Try benadryl cream or benadrly. Just be cautious not to use both. Calamine lotion may help also. Good luck to you.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hey Pamela,

Itching, Huh?  Well, we know it's not the methadone...that would have happened a long time ago.  I think you are overdoing it, sweating more than normal, and maybe a slight allergy to "moving".  idea    That's what I think...So?  Where have you been?  I have been waiting for an email, but nothing...Did you forgert about me? cry

It has done nothing but rain, rain, rain here in Nashville...Be careful what you wish for, and we were wishing for rain..We just had our front yard landscaped and it was starting to turn brown...Not anymore. The grass is 4 ft. tall!! smhair   Help!!!

So, I hope your itching is better...Talk to ya soon...

Your friend,

Me.

Rhonda, (Read All)

Yes, I WAS overdoing it. Sometimes I get so dam n tired of my disability - Chronic
Pain that I play a game with myself. I play like I'm pain free. When we moved
into the current place (Last December) I carried bricks and constructed a flower bed
about 1 A. I used the big garage light and it was brrrrrrr cold. I KNOW I do these
things. I really like to move and be very physical. Here I sit, wrapped up in my
shawl, glasses perched on my nose ,and knitting. I don't knit but I'm sure you
get the picture. NEXT LIFE I will not have CP.

Rhonda! I sent you the next installment of my Richard story! You didn't get it?
Good gravy, whoooooooo did???!!! It's out there floating in cyberspace. Not Good.

I haven't been able to contact two others on the CP forum. I was beginning to
think you guys had locked me out. I couldn't even get on the forum for about
three days. Anyway, as soon as I leave here I'll try and find my story and re-send.
If you don't get SOMETHING from me, please e-mail. If e-mail won't go through
post it here.

I grow my own cat grass. First I put it in a dark closet and water it well. In a
couple of days it has grown one ft. tall in the cat's cereal bowl. You're gonna
have to take your scissors out there and cut that grass, girl. That's what I do.

Pamela,

Isn't itching the worst?! Could it be just plain old allergies? I don't know about CA, but here in the north east, it is pollen (and allergy season) and I sure do have pollen allergies! If I don't take my allegra I go cray itching & have a runny nose, etc. Even with it, I still feel the effects. Benadryl is definitely a good thing to try, but you might want to wait until the night time if you can, because it may make you sleepy (benadryl is the active ingredient in most OTC sleep aids). Taking a shower and changing your clothes might help too, in case it is so kind of external irritant that you got on you. Hopefully by now, though, you are feeling better!

Hey, here's something interesting that I learned not that long ago. Scratching an itch helps because the physical action of scratching actually helps temporarily dull the nerve roots, so they don't send as intense a sensory signal back to the brain!

For an itch - never use hot water it makes it worse.  If you tink it is something you touched rinse with vinegar and water

I've slept a lot today. I turn on the TV, plug in the earphones and I'm gone.
Susie mentioned that sometimes when we get to feeling better, we'll over do.
That's what i did do for sure. I'm finally over the itch - it's 2:30A. I had been playing
like I had no pain. One day I shopped for a long time, next day a visit with friends.
I can't do that. I have to limit myself. That's that. When I stay up I do not
stengthen my body and build muscle. Nope. Not with this Chronic Pain. I'm limited.
That's that. Thank you Ms. Kitty and Skeye. I'm glad you found that e-maill Rhonda. m glad you found that e-mail, Rhonda. shocked shocked

yeah  Pamela,

Oh yes, I tend to overdo it as well...If I even feel remotely good I will carry heavy boxes, run the vacuum, clean the house....well, you get it.. But the next day I sure pay for it....

I will talk to ya later Pammy...

Me.
