I am rather new to this site and wanted to take time to introduce myself. When I first joined, I got so involved in trying to help others that I overlooked my own introduction. I'm a 62 year old male and just recently took my early retirement. I have a history of depression and GERD. At this point in my life, things seem to be pretty much in control thanks to Prilosec and Paxil, and of course, the good Lord. Hi to all of you out there, and I'm very excited about being a part of this great group of people.
Good health to all,
Gentleman K

Welcome Gentleman K,

So glad you decided to join us. This is indeed a wonderful group of people. Hope you find all the support and caring you are looking for.

I too, suffer from clinical depression and I am thankfully on medication that controls it very well. I hope you are doing well too.

Please continue to post so we can all get to know you.

God bless .

Glad you decided to start your own thread! I'm guessing you know that there are other areas of the forum that you also might find relevant (GERD, Depression), but you're also very welcome here. The quick jump menu at the top of the page makes it easy to post to different conditions, and you can post to as many as are relevant for you. But we only see what you post to chronic pain on this thread. You can cut and paste other posts, especially if you've made a longer introduction or post and don't want to repeat the typing!

p.s. I recently started on prilosec, and have my endoscopy scheduled for this Monday. Not looking forward to it, especially since my back pain has really flared and I'm supposed to get a colonoscopy, too. Yuck! smilewinkgrin
And many of us with chronic pain also deal with depression, myself included.

Hi Gentleman K,

I also want to extend a warm welcome to you! We're most happy to have you! I too, suffer from depression. It's a pretty common "side effect" of CP (although, I had had mild depression in the past, prior to my CP, but it is much much worse now). Unfortunately, I haven't been lucky enough to find a medication to control it well. Kind of like my pain. Nothing seems to work for me - no conventional medication anyway. I'm glad to hear that you have better luck!

Welcome again to the group (family)! I look forward to reading your posts. Feel free to vent to us anytime you want/need to, in addition to the "helping others" that you like to do! :-)
