Hello friends,

Don't you just love it: we deal with pain & it's consequences every day. You'd think that that would be enough for a life time. But nature doesn't seem to agree, so on top of our daily CP we are still susceptible to illness. Actually, when you think about it, we are probably more susceptible to illness than normal/healthy people, because our immune systems are bound to be less effective due to the constant stress, exhaustion, & pain through which we must function every day (not to mention certain meds, which may also contribute to a weak(er) immune system) . That's got to wear down your immune system!

Well, this morning I woke up to a nasty nasty stomach bug! Just what I wanted! turn Before today, I had been lucky enough not to have actually thrown up for years. Boy I made up for all those years this morning. Things have calmed down a bit at the moment, but I still feel awful. Joy. I hope all of you a feeling much better than me!

Awe, Skeye, you just can't catch a break! But I think you're absolutely right what all this stress of CP does to our bodies, and plus with what just happened to you, it's probably not a surprise your body is reacting, too.

Probably no one really "likes" vomiting, but since my fusion the couple of times I've had to it was so painful because now I can't bend over the toilet like I used to. I found that out the hard way.

I hope you curl up in bed and give yourself some badly needed TLC. Try not to think about what happened right now. Give yourself a chance to get on the other side of this, then you can think about other issues.

Awe Skeye, I agree with PALady if you could just curl up, relax a little, dim the lights and
I'll read softly to you as you'll be wearing an eye compress...
Lots of soft HUGZ...

Og my poor little Sis! Skeye, I'm hoping it's just one of those 24 hour things??? I had one last week and it was just like you described, hit me in the middle of the night like a freight train! Then 24 hours later it was completely gone. The only residual was some pain in my abdomin and neck from heaving! Like you, I rarely vomit! So maybe you're on the down slope now, we can only hope> Right??? You take it real easy and try to rest if you can't sleep, I know you seldom sleep but someday you will, I just know you will!
All my best and very gentle huggy wuggies!!!
Big Bro,
Pete

skeye,

Your not the only one suffering, I'm doing hte same thing right now. I have been feeling sick to my stomach all day today, I just wanna cry. I know I have always been one to get sick easily, especailly with strep throats and bronchitis. I have been trying to sleep all day today, but of course today is the last day of school and a half day for my kids, so now I'm up and trying to do some small house work here and there, I decided for dinner it's gonna be a simple frozen meal I'm throwing in the oven for the kids. Well I hope you feel better, cause I know exactly how you feel, actually I feel like I may have a fever right now, it just isnt fair....

PA, Char, Dani, Pete, & Kitty - thanks so much for your comforting posts! I feel a little better just reading them!

PA- the bad thing about being sick at school, is that I don't dare bend over the toliets to vomit, as they aren't the cleanest things in the world. Plus, I don't think I could make it to the bathroom in time. It's halfway down the hall, and when it's coming, it's really coming, so I've been using my garbage can instead. Pretty gross. I know where that thing is going when this is all over!

Char - Your plan sounds fantastic! I'm all in!

Dani - I think the worse thing about feeling sick to your stomach is that it is hard to find something that helps relieve that feeling. I'll try to remember cola syrup for the future. I almost always feel mildly nauseous because of my pain, but this is horrible. I just turning my head just about does me in. I actually felt this way one night last week (all I could do was lie still on my back, or I'd feel really sick), but nothing ever came out of it. I really wish I had some chamomille tea right now! Unfortunately I left it at home! I actually meant to bring it back to school this week, but I forgot, as I was in a really bad mood when I left yesterday, as it was teeming rain & I was afraid to drive the 1 1/2 hrs back here, as you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you, not to mention all my vision difficulties. Fortunately I had 2 cans of Ginger Ale here. I had one already & am saving the other for tonight. I wish I could just run over to CVS, but I don't think I could make the 15 min drive.

Pete - I sure hope it's one of those 24 hr things as well. I think it probably is, because I feel a little better than this morning. I haven't thrown up in a couple hours now & was actually able to keep some crackers down, although I shouldn't say anything yet, because I can almost feel it coming back... I'm sorry to hear that you had to suffer through this as well. It certainly isn't any fun. The one good thing though, is that I have actually managed to sleep for a couple hours on & off today! I desperately need the sleep. I just wish it wasn't under these circumstances.

Kitty - You poor thing! I can't imagine going through this thing AND having to worry about the kids! Nausea is the absolute worst (in my own opinion) ! I hope you feel better & are able to get some rest! Could you send the kids off to a friend or family member's house tomorrow if you are still feeling lousy, so that you could get some rest?

Thanks again everyone! Big hugs to you all!

Skeye, I need a diversion right now so I will make some chamomile tea and bring it right over. Then I will rush over to Kitty's house and finish the house work and whip up a nice meal. Then I am going to go over to White Beard's house and do a little work on the house and spend some time with him and then get over to Pete's house for the evening and tie a few flies. I think that would help distract me so I am not dealing with everything. But first I have to figure how to get out of bed and they took my car away (I think it was a conspiracy) so I can't go anywhere. I will still do all these things in my mind. Sorry that the best I can do accept say I hope tonight and tomorrow is better for all of us.

Awww, thanks fatherjohn! You better whip out those keys to that secret flying corvette we had so much fun with!

How are you doing? I'm way behind on reading the posts because my eyes have been even worse thanks to this illness (not to mention that they had worsened over this past week as well) & so I don't foresee me getting caught up until at least tomorrow!

Skeye
