tony, i saw your post where you made the comment that methadone was the end of the line. i was on it about 2 years ago and then bumped over to oxycontin and oxycodone. i'm sure there are options available to you, and i don't know why your dr would say such a thing. there is actiq as well (the lollipop) though i have never had one i hear they work well. have you considered asking your dr about the pain pump? i am about to have my permanent put in. my average pain level is about 7-8, and i had zero pain with the pump. as well as no side effects and the meds don't go into your liver like pills do. i figured another 50 years of pain ahead of me the pump will be a better choice. plus the pill version of dilaudid and morphine is like 1/500th. morphine never worked for me in the hospital and was stunned on day 5 (of my trial, they slowly up the dosage daily) when it worked. so don't give up, there are a lot of options left. if you feel you are not being treated correctly see a new dr. i don't know if you saw my post someone made the comment that i am not getting enough to relieve the pain as i am watching the clock for my next dosage. i actually am thinking my next appt asking about a small trial of actiq, like 5 or something for the rough days. good luck and let us know how it goes.

kttn; Thanks for the heads up.

The Methadone is the end of the line for narcotics. There isn't anything else long-actomg/long-term that works on me; my doctor took me through a long circuotous route getting to Methadone + Morphine. So, while there may be a perfect other solution out there, I am confident that my doctor explored about every TYPE of narco there is, and my body either had a problem with it, I got NO pain relief, or it just didn't fit the situation.

Also, I don't just take Methadone + Morphine. I take Methadone, Morphine, Lyrica and Cymbalta. *Each* of them plays a big part in my pain relief. I also take several more meds that play a part in the whole story.

Again, thank you for paying attention and the heads up. I really appreciate it. No telling when the perfect solution WON'T pass me by because a friend was paying attention and said something.
